Background of the issue:
I have several multilingual multisites, including hidden link. Due to the high maintenance workload, I have decided to convert these multisites into single sites and use WPML for handling translations. I need specific guidance on managing the language folders (/de and /en) to ensure all URLs and associated backlinks are preserved. Currently, only the German language version (the German sub-site) of the multisite is active (www.root.com/de). The English sub-site (www.root.com/en) has already been deleted as it was never fully developed. Therefore, losing any /en backlinks is not a concern. I am consulting the WPML knowledge base, such as this: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/. However, I could not find an answer to my specific problem.

Symptoms:
I am particularly confused about handling the primary language URL structure, especially since I'm not fully aware of WPML's capabilities and limitations.

Questions:
Should I convert the primary language URLs from hidden link to hidden link and let WPML add the virtual /de folder?
Alternatively, should I maintain the current folder setup for the primary language (www.sindibaba.com/de) and configure WPML to avoid adding a virtual /de folder for the primary language while adding language folders for other languages (/en and /fr)?
