This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with visitors being directed to sub-directory URLs instead of the correct domain URLs after changing the WPML-Language setting for different domains. Additionally, there are problems with a distorted home page and missing background images when switching to French.
Solution:
After migrating from staging to production please run the WPML troubleshooting options available at WPML > Support > Troubleshooting (Cleanup) > Clear the cache in WPML. This action can help resolve issues inside the Advanced Translation Editor.

If this solution does not resolve issues or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at our support forum.

So far so good, but I'm having another issue related to this one. I will open a new ticket once again.

I'm still LOSING all of my translations upon making a small change to the page title of every page. That issue ONLY happens on live production site (with different domains). Although I disable Chrome cache completely the issue occurs no matter what.

How can I stop this madness once and for all? Can you transfer me to 2nd tier support? It's incredible the time I've wasted desperately trying to keep my manually edited translations from vanishing.

I temporarily fixed the issue on staging by disabling MEMCACHED on the server (which seems to be incompatible with WMPL). I wish development would fix that.

Surely, I can escalate to 2nd Tier, but first I need to confirm the issue.

Please provide me access to the site again, as the earlier provided credentials are not longer available.

Further, please name me the title or permalink of the content on which I can replicate this issue.

Also, take note, that editing the original content will alsways clear the relative segments on the WPML Translation Editor. In case you created manual translation on the WordPress-Editor, then those would get overwritten by the WPML Translation Editor, as you can not use both methods at the same time.

After I edit my replies to you here, the WMPL.ORG website deletes my reply every single time. What a waste of time.

So, this is my third attempt to reply to your last message. I have other things to do than replying 3 times.

All I have done on the live production site so far is to resave the translations for each page in order to convert the links from hidden link into hidden link in order to have a different domain per language.

But during the process, I noticed some non-existent text within the ATE. So, to resolve the issue, I make a slight change in the page title text, and back to its original name. By doing so, WPML provided a cog icon, forcing me to revise the translations via ATE. It is then that I noticed that my custom translations were converted to automatic translations.

I like to use automatic translations initially, then I tweak it a great deal within ATE to tune it to my liking. Not sure if the WPML settings are set correctly though.

It sounds like you are refering to the "Automatic Translations By Default" feature.

When using the translation mode "Translate What You Choose" by default you will see automatic translations when opening the Advanced Translation Editor.

This is kind if a review to see how a automatic translation would look like and you will only get charged credits for this translations if you begin to confirm single segments.

You can disable this feature by clicking "Undo translations" in the top header of the Advanced Translation Editor.

Now, when opening translations you should not see any pre-filled automatic translations.

Further, I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with posting replies on the forum. Did you already test with another broswer or try to delete the broswser's cache? Take note, that sometimes a browser addon could cause issues as well.

Say what?

>You can disable this feature by clicking "Undo translations" in the top header of the Advanced Translation Editor.<

By doing so, my own manual translations will come back?

>Now, when opening translations you should not see any pre-filled automatic translations.<

What do you mean by "opening translations"?

>Further, I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with posting replies on the forum. Did you already test with another broswer or try to delete the broswser's cache? Take note, that sometimes a browser addon could cause issues as well.<

No, I like using Safari. I will try to delete the cache next time it happens. I have no extensions attached to Safari. I just tried again after clearing the cache (cache creates more problems than it helps, IMO), it is okay now.

By the way, I no longer lose my translations in staging. Why, because I disabled MEMCACHED on the server. So, why this issue on the live production site only?

I first need tobe able to confirm such issue and run troubleshooting steps before escalating it to the second tier support.

Please provide access to a staging site, on which MEMCACHED is enabled and provide details about a content and taken steps on which the issue can be replicated.

The private reply form is enabled.

---

Disabling the "Automatic translation by default" feature will delete any segment that has been translated automatically. Those are the segments with the dotted lines in between.

This will not bring back any earlier translations. These segments have been translated automatically, as the Advanced Translation Editor found them empty or the original segments has been updated.

Once a segment is confirmed, it will overwrite the translation memory. If you close the Advanced Translation Editor without confirming each segment, those segments that were not confirmed are not saved into translation memory.

I do need access to a site on which I can run tests by deactivating plugin, changing the theme, enabling WP DEBUG, etc - this can not be done on a live site.

About your live site:

There was still the migration banner showing up which needs ot be completed to be able to use the Advanced Translation Editor. See screenshot.

Could you please clairfy if this migration keep showing up unexpectelty or is it that you are registering or migrating the site again and again?

Only today the site was registered four times already on our system. Please let me know if you took any steps that could lead to such a result.

Yes, I re-deployed staging a couple of times today. Please clear your browser cache to get rid of the sticking banner.

Please note the environment is the same on both sites, except that the production site uses two different domains.

You need to complete the banner each time you move from staging to live.

I can see the issue now on one of your pages. I also realized that if I create a new page (Draft) the Elementor content is not available inside the WPML Translation Editor.

Now, could you please disable MEMCACHED on the server and leave me a comment after that, please?

Unless you already disabled MEMCACHED now, it seems running the WPML troubleshooting options at WPML > Support > Troubleshooting (Cleanup) solved the issue.

>You need to complete the banner each time you move from staging to live.<

I did. Somehow, you see the changes later in Europe.

>Now, could you please disable MEMCACHED on the server and leave me a comment after that, please?<

I always keep it off at all times to avoid issues.

>it seems running the WPML troubleshooting options at WPML > Support > Troubleshooting (Cleanup) solved the issue.<

Clean Up and Optimize String Tables? (Yes, clean up should be in two words)
