[Resolved] Duplicate pages from one translation into another
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is trying to duplicate content from Simplified Chinese pages to Traditional Chinese pages and is unsure how to proceed using the WPML Translation Management board.
Solution: 1. To duplicate Simplified Chinese pages to Traditional Chinese, use the Translation Management board to filter pages by language and then duplicate them. 2. If there is an issue with the duplication, edit the page in Simplified Chinese and click on 'Update' to synchronize the content with the Traditional Chinese version. This can also be done in bulk as shown in the provided screenshot. 3. For new pages, the process is as follows: - Create a new page in English. - Translate it to Simplified Chinese. - Edit the translation page in Simplified Chinese. - Manually duplicate it to Traditional Chinese.

I got another crash report sent to me when you were doing something. Did you not see a fatal error display while you were in there? I think maybe there is a conflict somewhere.

Yes, I see it when bulk updating the pages in Chinese Simplified language. However, we can handle one issue per ticket only, it is another issue and I will split this ticket into a new one for that issue.
If you see the main issue of this ticket with duplicate pages to Chinese Traditional is resolved, please mark it as Resolved.
This is very frustrating. First of all, the stage site is totally messed up. I believe because everything is deactivated.
Secondly, when I am now trying on live site, nothing is working.
1. I go to WPML -> Translation Management. Selected Chinese Simplified. Check Chinese Traditional -> duplicate content. It said successfully duplicated.
2. Go to the Pages, change the top to Chinese simplified. Select one of the pages eg. /zh-hans/who-is-ezekiel/
3. Once in the edit of that page, I click on the Chinese (Traditional) (duplicate) on the right side (see attached)
4. what got displayed next is not the content but a field on FAQ! (see attached)
5. I then tried go to the Page and change the language to Chinese Traditional and edit the page. (see attached). I clicked on the permalink as shown to the Chinese Traditional page, there is nothing at all, just blank.
I have also tried just duplicating the one page and content in WPML Translation Manage and select only that one page to duplicate. It said content duplicated successfully. Yet when I go to the Page and select the page that I just duplicated, it's just blank.
I would like to know how you duplicated that page in the stage site?
I also followed your message on January 8, 2024 at 4:59 am. Did just the "About Ezekiel" page using the bulk edit in Pages but selected only that one page and click Update. Same thing. Just a blank Traditional Chinese page.
2. For the live site, can you please share your site credentials (wp-admin and FTP)? I will take a look. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
I am not able to do so for the live site due to the time required to back up and risks.
I just need to know in details what are the steps you have taken to duplicate just one page from the Simplified Chinese to the Traditional Chinese. Turning off plugins is not an option because it is a live site.
Right now I seem to have all the traditional Chinese pages. But they are all blanks. If I need to delete them all, and restart, please let me know.
Please open the screen record URL in a new tab, don't open it directly on this page. If you see it doesn't work on the live site, can you please share your site credentials?
I followed exactly as in your video. It doesn't work. It has to be something that you set or turned off. Of course, turning off plugin is not possible on live site.
The only way is for me to duplicate the live site onto stage again if you need to see it.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
In the new version of the staging site, I see the issue. Then I follow steps below to fix it:
1. Go to WPML > Settings > Custom Fields Translation section > Click on "Show system fields".
2. Search for the field "_themify_builder_settings_json" > Set the preference to "Translate".
3. Edit the page in Chinese Simplified > Click on Update to sync the Themify builder content to the Chinese Traditional page.
Here is the screen record hidden link
I also do not see the fatal error on this staging site version when bulk updating the pages in Chinese Simplified.
I went to hidden link But the top picture is missing. Why is that?
If you scroll to the bottom, you will see all the formatting are not there either, e.g. the text font, Buy button and paragraph. You can compare the Simplified vs Traditional. They are not the same. Format disappeared. I think something is still not copied over.
So weird, one of the menu "LEARN" in Simplified Chinese became English after copied over.
Did you do a bulk duplicate first for all the pages?
Now I see the background image of the text is displayed in Chinese Traditional as well as the button. Please check screenshots attached.
Did you do a bulk duplicate first for all the pages?
No, the pages are duplicated before I log in to your site. If you mean bulk updating the page in Chinese Simplified, it will have the same result when you update the single page in Chinese Simplified.
