This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing issues with custom button URLs not consistently appearing in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE). Sometimes these URLs are visible, and other times they are not, although they can still be accessed by searching.

Solution:
We have identified that links within text are typically visible, whereas links in separate fields might not show up by default but can be searched for. This behavior was previously adjusted for some page builder elements to make separate links visible by default for usability purposes. If you are noticing discrepancies between your production and development sites, it might be due to the types of links used (internal vs external). To help us investigate further and provide a more tailored solution, we recommend replicating the issue in a test site. This will allow us to examine the problem in detail.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I'm trying to translate my custom buttons URLs, provided from the inspector controls of the custom block. Sometimes they appear, sometimes they not. If not, I can still access them, but only when I search for them. I want them to be always visible in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE).

Symptoms:
Fields that are URLs are not consistently showing in the Advanced Translation Editor.

Questions:
How can I ensure that custom button URLs are always visible in the Advanced Translation Editor?

Hi,

Reference to our recent chat, after some more discussion with my team about the links not appearing in the ATE, I've created a sandbox site at hidden link (one-click login).

Can you please add your custom block here and create an example post or page? So I can then reproduce the issue and escalate it accordingly.

For the other issue with & (ampersand) not working correctly in ATE, I'll split this ticket into a separate ticket after your reply and update you accordingly.

Regards.

Hi,

I've tried to replicate this on our production (untill now we have spoken about my local dev environment), and there (on production) it seems that all those URL fields are visible right away. No need for search. This is good, but I'm trying to understand why. Is it possible, that an active licence resolves this issue? Because apart from that, those two environments are pretty the same.

Also, during our chat you have mentioned, that they SHOULD be hidden and this is expected behavior. I'm kind of confused here, because now I dont know if my local env is not working correctly (hiding those fields), or there is something wrong with my production env (where those fields are visible right away - so exactly like I want them to behave).

Thank you for the updates.

As per my discussion with the team, the links within the text are visible, while links in separate fields are usually hidden and can be searched. On top of that, in the past we fixed this for some page builder elements where separate links (in fields) were also made visible by default, as they were relevant and needed for the usability purposes.

I'm not very sure why links are visible in your production site while not in the dev site. However, I don't think a license should have such an impact. Probably these are different links you are trying in both sites (i.e. internal vs external)?

To clarify this further and to request our team to check for more, it'd be great if you can replicate the issue, with your custom block, in previously provided sandbox site. So we can then check in more detail and can provide you a relevant solution (as needed).

Thank you for support on this topic. We have decided that we will leave it for now as it is. Maybe in the future I will reach you again.

Now, can we jump into '& amp ;' issue in ATE? As I said, I have updated WPML and String Translations to the latest versions, just to check if problem is resolved, but unfortunatelly still occurs.

Thank you for the updates.

Sure, please feel free to close this ticket as resolved and of course you can always open a new one (or chat) whenever you decide to continue on this in the future.

For the & sign issue, I've split it into a separate issue at https://wpml.org/forums/topic/split-ampersand-sign-not-working-correctly-in-ate/ and 'll update you via that ticket.
