This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to change the Japanese URL on your website to https://navagis.com/jp/.
Solution:
Modifying an existing language code is impossible, but you can create a custom language and specify the code as /jp/ For detailed instructions on how to add a custom language, please visit Editing WPML's Languages Table.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If issues persist, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I tried to change the Japanese URL on our website to hidden link but it is not working. I followed your documentation https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/.

Symptoms:
The URL change is not working as expected.

Questions:
Why is the Japanese URL change to hidden link not working?
Is there a specific step I might have missed in the documentation?

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

Could you please provide more details about the issue you're experiencing? Specifically, what doesn't work? You mentioned attempting to change the Japanese URL. Can you describe how the Japanese URL appeared before?

Please update your WPML plugin to the latest version 4.6.11 and add-ons to benefit from the latest bug fixes and improvements. This may not necessarily resolve your problem, however, in order to troubleshoot the issue best we need to work on the latest code available.

You can check the latest released versions under "My Account -> Downloads" on this site.

Remember to backup your database first before you proceed.

Thank you for your explanation. I understand you wish to change the language code for Japanese to /ja/. Modifying an existing language code is impossible, but you can create a custom language and specify the code as /jp/.
