This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client's website was experiencing an issue where the translation update service was running continuously, displaying the message: 'Updating affected posts for changes in translatable fields...'.
Solution:
We recommended checking our errata page for a known issue that might be related to this problem. The client should follow the workaround suggested there after ensuring a full site backup. The specific steps taken by the client to resolve the issue by truncate the

wp_icl_background_task

table in the database, which successfully fixed the error.

Hello and good morning.

The translation update service is running continuously on my website for a few days and this message is displayed: Updating affected posts for changes in translatable fields.... (please check the screenshot).

How can I stop this?

Thank you very much.

Hi Peter,

Our developers are still working on this. But there is no exact time frame for the fix.

However, we have already created an errata related to this issue. Please check the following URL for more details.

https://wpml.org/errata/wpml-causing-backend-slowness-and-duplicated-queries/

Please try the workaround suggested there after a full site backup{mandatory} and let us know your feedback.

Hi Bigul,

Thank you very much for your great support. We have deleted the wp_icl_background_task table in the database and the error has been successfully fixed 🙂

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Peter
