[Resolved] I cannot see language (Chinese Traditional) translation in String Translation
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was unable to see the Chinese Traditional translation in the String Translation section, even after increasing PHP limits and creating a staging site.
Solution: We recommended the client to perform a series of troubleshooting steps after ensuring a full site backup. These steps included clearing the WPML cache, removing ghost entries, fixing collations, setting language information, assigning translation status, fixing terms count, and optimizing string tables. Despite these steps, the issue persisted.
We then requested access to the client's site for further investigation and suggested making a duplicator copy of the site for debugging on a local server. We also asked for permission to convert the chat to a ticket for detailed debugging.
Upon further investigation, we identified that the issue was a rare bug that caused some string translations to be missing from the database. We found that the string 'ISLANDS' had lost its translation on a specific date but could be retranslated without issues. We provided a screencast demonstrating the solution and asked the client to share a screencast if the problem continued.

We made a copy of the site using the Duplicator Pro plugin after few tries. Because the Duplicator free & pro versions resulted in Host Build interrupt error. But due the server settings unable to download the installer file of Duplicator package. So can you please share the FTP credentials to access the site file. Enabling the private option for the next reply.

The bug exists on our local copy after the initial troubleshooting steps. So consulting with our team for the expert opinion. We will get back to you as early as possible. Please wait.
We have cross-checked your database locally. As of now, 117 strings have been translated. However, that data was lost from the database on 19.10.2023 between 04:00:00 and 09:00:00. Please check the attached image for more details. Therefore please investigate the actions on that day with the help of the hosting team.
The string translation is working as expected when I retranslate one of the strings. Please check the following screencast for more details.
Thanks for your follow-up! I will check with hosting team. However, I do not need all the strings to be translated. I see the screenshot that those wordings are actually not needed for translation.
But could you let me know if the bugs have been fixed and I can do the translation works now in my website ? OR I still need to wait for your advice? Thanks!
I have tried today but am still not able to translate the string. Please see attached image. No translation language is shown for selection and the translated language is still in English (but not Traditional Chinese).
Could you help to check again.... I am a bit urgent to translate the site and then to go to next process. Thanks for your help!
Thank you for the updates. The *ISLANDS* is one of the strings translated, but lost the translation in the Database on 19.10.2023. But I can retranslate it without any issues now. Please refer to the following screencast for more details.
