[Resolved] I get a 503 Service Unavailable Error when trying to save a page
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client experiences a '503 Service Unavailable Error' when trying to save a page with a lot of content in the admin area, specifically the home page. The error seems to be related to server memory issues, despite having sufficient memory limits set (256M and 512M). Solution: We recommend increasing the 'max_execution_time' to 300 or higher to potentially resolve the issue. Additionally, it's crucial to contact the hosting provider to check the server logs for more detailed insights, as the error is typically related to server-side issues. If the problem persists, we suggest editing the primary language page and unchecking the 'ACFML synchronization of translations - Keep repeating fields and flexible subfields in the same order as in the default language' option. This adjustment should allow the page to be updated without triggering the error.
If these steps do not resolve the issue or if the solution seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, please visit our support forum at WPML Support Forum for further assistance. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.

I get a "503 Service Unavailable Error" when trying to save a page/post in admin.
But only on a page with a lot of content eg. start page: hidden link
Saving pages with less content seem to work.
The Error is shown as a "PMemF" in Cpanel.
All error_log files are empty.
I activated wp_error reporting but no file was created in wp_content.
I am using php 7.4 and tried high memory settings but no success.
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');
define('WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M');
Thank you for getting in touch. After reviewing the screenshot you provided, I observed that the "max_execution_time" is set at a relatively low value. I recommend increasing it to 300 or higher to see if it resolves the issue.
Additionally, since the "503 Service Unavailable Error" typically pertains to server-related issues, I advise reaching out to your hosting provider. They should be able to examine the server logs for further insight and assistance in resolving this matter.
If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
today I found something in the debug_log but I am not sure if it is related to my problem:
[12-May-2024 03:43:46 UTC] PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 0 in /iscsi3/pifflser/public_html/dermaz.at/wp-includes/class-wp-query.php on line 3738

I increased the max execution time to 300 but it does not change anything. I get the 503 aprox. 6 seconds after hitting the save button.
The only webserver Error I get after saving is shown in the attached image.
As I previously wrote it seems to be a "PMemF" Error (Memory) but more than enogh memory is available. Tis error is allways triggerd when I try to save the page.
I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
I've investigated, and I can edit and save posts/pages without encountering any issues. Would you mind creating a brief screen recording using this free tool hidden link to demonstrate the steps you took when encountering the problem? This will help me better understand the issue you're facing.
It seems to work fine when I deactivated the ACF plugin. Please allow me to escalate this to our 2nd Tier Support for further investigation. I will come back to you once I've feedback.
I've received feedback from our 2nd Tier Support. According to them, the issue occurs within 4 seconds, ruling out a timeout problem. Instead, it appears that the server is rejecting the request with a 503 error. Could you please inquire with your hosting provider about why this request is resulting in a 503 error?
I regret any inconvenience caused, but to proceed further with troubleshooting, I kindly ask for a snapshot of the site. Alternatively, with your permission, I can create one myself. For this purpose, I typically recommend using the free plugin "Duplicator." If you're already familiar with Duplicator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/), please skip the following steps and simply send me the archive file you downloaded.
To guide you further, please adhere to these instructions:
1. View the Duplicator instructions video: hidden link
3. If the archive file exceeds 400MB, please use Duplicator's file filters to exclude cache, wp-uploads directory, media, and archive files.
Once you have the archive file ready, kindly share the link with us. You can utilize platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar for file sharing, as the snapshot file might be large.
Please note that your next reply will be private, visible only to you and me. You can paste the file link there. Rest assured that once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local site.
