This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was trying to set up automatic translation for their site but encountered issues where translations were not being processed as expected. They initially opted to translate all content but then decided to translate only specific pages to conserve credits. The client was also unsure how to handle languages not included in WPML's default 65 languages.

Solution:
First, we advised the client to ensure they had selected the "translate what you choose" option in WPML > Settings, which allows for full control over what content is sent for automatic translation. For more information, we provided a link to the documentation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/#translating-individual-pages-posts-and-other-content-automatically.

For pages that the client wishes to translate manually, we directed them to our guide on using different translation editors for different pages:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/.

To address the issue of translation jobs queued incorrectly, we provided instructions on how to cancel translation jobs:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/#how-to-cancel-translation-jobs.

Finally, since the client had additional questions about adding custom languages not available in WPML's default set, we created a separate ticket to focus on that specific issue and provided a link to the new support ticket.

Please note that the solution provided might be irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case. If the issue persists, we recommend opening a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Tell us what you are trying to do?
I followed all of the steps to set this up. I am starting with just 2 languages, but will need multiple languages down the road. I set it to automatically translate the site, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I wasn't sure if there is something I am not aware of (it takes like hours/days) but it looks like it is wanting me to translate it myself? I am just confused because the getting started document didn't go past this.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
Yes was folllowing the getting started doc. I originally did to translate all content, but I actually think I only want to start with like 3 pages so i dont use all my credits, but it might be too late for that?
Is there a similar example that we can see?
Yes I'll attach an image of what's going on. I really don't need to translate everything on the site so I wonder if we can reverse that. I also see the translator in the footer, but only english is an option right now.
What is the link to your site?

Hi there.

As far as I can see, your credits are still there (60k assigned to the site and 30k remaining in your WPML.org account).

So you can go to WPML > Settings > and make sure that you have the "translate what you choose" option:
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/#translating-individual-pages-posts-and-other-content-automatically

This will give you full control over what content you send for automatic translation.

Also, if you have specific pages that you will want to manually translate (instead of using the automatic translation), please take a look here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

I hope that you will find this information helpful. 🙂

Okay, that makes more sense. So I switched it over to "Translate what you choose" but I am confused because it is still showing all of these jobs in the queue. Is there a way I can just start over? I can't tell if like half of my site is done translating or what's going on. Everytime I click to view it, it just looks blank. How do I know when the job is done?

Hi there.

You can cancel translation jobs as explained here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/#how-to-cancel-translation-jobs

Then, you can send them for translation individually, as shown here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/#translating-individual-pages-posts-and-other-content-automatically

Please let me know how that goes.

That makes sense. I was able to cancel all of those jobs. I did not have anything selected for "Translation Editor" so I am assuming that's why it wasn't working. I am now able to to translate specific pages.

I did have another question though. We have about 5 or so languages that we want to add that are not available in your 65 languages. How do you recommend going about that? Do we need to pay for someone to translate those? Or if we did it manually via Google translate? Please let me know my options!

Hi there and welcome back!

From my understanding, the initial issue reported here was resolved. I'm happy to hear that! 🙂

Per our Support Policy, we can handle only one issue/topic per ticket.

Continuing with one topic per ticket helps not only supporters to focus on one issue at once, but also enables other users to find solutions to their questions faster.

I created a new ticket for you in regard to the new question here:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/split-we-have-about-5-or-so-languages-that-we-want-to-add-that-are-not-available-in-your-65-languages-how-do-you-recommend-going-about-that/

You will be notified via email when there's an answer to that ticket, too.

Also, can you please mark this current ticket as resolved?

Thank you. 🙂

Mihai
