Background of the issue:
I want to translate some texts using WPML, specifically some Gravity Forms. I am trying to add myself as a translator. The issue can be seen here: hidden link
Symptoms:
I cannot find myself as a user of the site, so I am unable to add myself as a translator.
Questions:
How can I add myself as a translator in WPML?
Why am I not appearing as a user on the site?
If the issue persists and you can not translate a form, please give me the form that you ant to translate, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.
I checked and see that the specific user that you have is not there.
Would you please follow the steps below and test?
- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except WPML and its add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.
If the problem persists, I need your permission to copy your website to our server for further investigation.
I have created a staging site. But I can add all users of the website as a translator, except for all Admins. I have deactivated every other plugin as you said.
As you first reply said, admin role users should have all rights and no issue with translating.
With this new WPML update, the only option is to create a sub account without admin rights to select as translator at the 'Translation Method'. Otherwise I cannot translate a thing..
Thank you for the login information. I checked and it seems that your user has a specific kind of permissions or capabilities that are not WordPress default.I tested by adding a new user with my email and selected Administrator as the role.
I managed to add myself with no issues as a Danish translator and while checking the translation management it allowed me to translate Danish.
This shows that there is some sort of manipulation happening for your user which I am not sure what it is that causes WPML not to detect that specific user.
Thanks.
