Background of the issue:
I am experiencing an issue with WPML where updates to the original English content are affecting the translated versions on my site hidden link. There are many pages that were translated recently but not published yet. After updates to the English pages, the translations are now a mix of translated and English texts.

Symptoms:
Translations are automatically updated with changes from the original English content, resulting in a mix of translated and English texts.

Questions:
Is there a setting or feature in WPML that allows translations to remain unchanged unless explicitly updated?
How can I prevent automatic updates to translations when the original content is modified?

Hi,

Please create the staging site and share access.

Please update our plugins to their latest versions on the staging site if they have not been updated. Also, the debug info you attached shows that your server's WP Memory Limit is 40M. Our recommendations are to have the following as minimal requirements: WP Memory Limit of at least 128MB, while 256MB is recommended. Please follow this link for detailed documentation: https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/

Is it possible for you to change those to the minimum requirement?

You can do it from the wp-config.php file in your WordPress installation. Insert this code in that file:

/** Memory Limit */
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

Add it before this line:

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

If you need further help with this, please share the access details to your site with me. I'm enabling a private message for the following reply.

Hi, and thanks for the access details.

I've checked things on your site and also reread this thread and your chat with our AI agent. I now understand that your question is whether there are ways to roll back updates from certain translated pages before they are published. If I understand correctly, then before you translated the page, it was duplicated into the Spanish language. Is this correct? If so, then your only option is to restore a backup of the site before you made this change.

Does this answer your question?

If not, can you please elaborate on the translation process you took that led to this problem?

Regards,
Itamar.

Hi,

Thank you for checking this. Let me explain the situation from the beginning. We had a lot of pages (~1000) translated from English to different languages (Spanish and etc.) recently (about 1 month ago)

These days we decided to start publishing the translations, but when we start we noticed that the published pages e.g. hidden link contain mix up of English and translated words.

We need to know if there is any recommended method in WPML (settings, plugins, hooks etc.) that can help us to avoid such issue?

So when we will publish next pages they will contain only translated texts without English parts if possible.

Thanks

Hi,

You asked: "We need to know if there is any recommended method in WPML (settings, plugins, hooks etc.) that can help us to avoid such issue?"

However, I aim to find out why this problem occurred in the first place. If the translation process was followed correctly, things like that should not happen. I tried to reaccess your site and got stuck at the 2FA stage. I did not receive the verification code email. Please see the attached screenshot. (Although I remember that last time I could access.)
Can you please fix this and let me know how I can access your site?
If needed, you can edit the previous private message with the correct access details.

Furthermore, please describe the translation process you took a month ago when you translated this content.

Additionally, please let me know how you set the translations to be a draft.
Did you use the 'Save the translated post as a draft' option in WPML -> Settings -> Translated documents options?
Please see the attached screenshot.

Regards,
Itamar.

Hi, I’ve switched the 2FA mode to recovery codes. After that, you can switch the 2FA mode back to the authenticator app. Now could you please create a new private message so i can share them with you?

Regarding our issue — here’s the situation:
We sent several pages for translation from English into Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic. Once the translations were ready, we approved a few pages for review and noticed that some pages were only partially translated, while others weren’t translated at all. We didn’t perform any cloning before this process.

Right now, we’re just trying to figure out what’s causing the problem. You can reproduce it yourself by going to Translation Jobs at:
hidden link

Then, in the Languages filter, select from English to Spanish, and set translated by → Crowdin.
After clicking Get translation, open one of the pages — you’ll see that it’s not fully translated.

Hi,

You mentioned that the content was translated using the Crowdin Translation Service, and the screenshot you attached clarifies things. It is the first time in this thread that you mentioned that Crowdin translated the content. The Crowdin Translation Service is an official Translation Service partner of WPML: https://wpml.org/translation-service/crowdin/. The screenshot you sent shows that the translations need an update. It says: "Completed - need an update". This means that, since the translation was completed by Crowdin and delivered to your site, you have changed the original English content. This explains why you have mixed Spanish. Segments of text where the changes were made must be sent to Crowdin for translation. You should do it from WPML -> Translation Dashboard. In WPML -> Translation Dashboard -> Translators, you must ensure that the Crowdin Translation Service is still connected to your site. You need to have a valid Activation Key and API Token. Please read our guide on working with Translation Services: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/professional-translation-via-wpml/. Please also notice the Frequently Asked Questions section to learn that those missing translations might be strings.

The following is also very important. Suppose you have switched to translate those pages with the Advanced Translation Editor. In that case, you should know that it uses a different translation method than the Crowdin service (or any translation service, for that matter). Translations from Crowdin should be edited with the Classic Translation Editor or by manually editing the XLIFF files from the Translation Service.

I hope this information helps you resolve the issue. But if needed, I'm enabling a private message for the following reply.

Regards,
Itamar.
