This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where changes made to the Header elements for the Spanish and Polish versions of their site are being incorrectly applied to the Global Header instead of the respective language headers. This problem arose after manually editing headers created in the default language and attempting to translate them for other languages.

Solution:
We recommend not manually editing Full Site Editing (FSE) templates for different languages as this approach is not compatible with WPML. Instead, you should:
1. Delete all problematic templates.
2. Create a new template in the default language using the Appearance > Editor option.
3. Translate the new template using the Translation Dashboard as outlined in our documentation here: Using Different Translation Editors for Different Pages.
4. If issues persist after following these steps, please open a new support ticket for further assistance.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML Support Forum.

Background of the issue:
I am building a multilingual site with four variants: US, Global, Spanish, and Polish. The US site already existed, and I’ve completed creation and translation of the Global version. I’m now working on the Spanish and Polish translations. Early on, I encountered an issue where the Translations tab showed 'Jobs could not be loaded,' which blocked all new translations. Based on guidance from this WPML thread (https://wpml.org/forums/topic/if-i-click-on-the-job-page-within-wordpress-it-says-that-jobs-cannot-be-loaded/), I applied the recommended database adjustments. After doing so, I was able to create and process new translations successfully.

Symptoms:
I’m facing a problem with the Header elements ('Default header' and 'default header-dark') for the Spanish and Polish versions. When I attempt to edit the Header for either of those locales, the changes are applied to the Global Header instead. The appropriate header is not getting translated to the Spanish and Polish versions. The header which is present on the Global version should be replicated and translated on both Spanish and Polish versions.

Questions:
How can I resolve the issue where changes to the Spanish and Polish Headers are applied to the Global Header instead?
What are the next steps for resolving the Header behavior?

Hello,

thanks.

I see you are using Full site editor templates, it is not possible to edit them manually or have different content, we have this as feature request and probably will be including in future versions.

For now, you can only translate them via WPML > Translation management:

Hello,
I have been trying to do that since the start of the issue. The spanish header was getting updated correctly prior to the Database Manipulations, but even the spanish header is not proper post that. I followed the steps mentioned in the below article :
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/if-i-click-on-the-job-page-within-wordpress-it-says-that-jobs-cannot-be-loaded/
I wasn't able to do any Polish translations before applying the DB manipulations mentioned in the above article.
Also, the initial issue came up with the "Default Header - Dark" template part being used on the T&C page - hidden link. I am not able to still translate the Dark Header using the translation management.

Hello,

I am afraid I do not understand what do you mean by your reply, seems like you have or are facing different issue now.

As I have said first, what you are trying to do and edit manually FSE templates is not possible.

If you have issue with translating FSE templates as in our docs, I advise creating new template, make sure it works fine in default language then translate it via Translation Dashboard as mentioned in our documentation.

If you then have issue with that method, we can open new ticket for you and further check and help on this issue.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Drazen

Apologies if I'm confusing you. lets stick to the initial Header issue that we discussed. Could you try editing the Header for Spanish and Polish versions? You can try adding some dummy content and see if its getting updated at the correct version?

Hello,

maybe you have missed or misunderstood my replies, it is not possible and WPML currently does not support editing of FSE templates in such way, we might change this in the future.

My reply above: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/issue-with-translating-and-updating-header-elements-in-spanish-and-polish-versions/#post-17386034

You should only create templates in default language, and then translate them via Translation Dashboard, that's it. Doing any other edit to other language templates will not work and will cause issues.

Drazen

I understood that Drazen. But I am able to edit the contents of the Footer for different languages. This issue is only with the Headers. I'm not sure whats happening with the Headers in the Spanish and Polish languages.

Hello,

I understand that you’re able to edit them, but this is not supported and will not work reliably.

Regardless of whether it seems possible, any template created inside Appearance > Editor should not be manually edited in other languages. This approach is not compatible with WPML, and I won’t be able to provide support for it.

For now, the only supported method is the one I explained above. Delete all of your related templates, create new one in default language and translate via supported method, if you then have any issue let us know and we will be glad to help.

Regards,
Drazen
