This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was unable to manually translate pages and was concerned that it might be due to not having paid for translation credits. They wanted to manually translate without using auto-translation services and were experiencing issues where translated pages appeared broken or did not display correctly.

Solution:
1. We confirmed that manual translation is possible without the use of credits by setting the Translation Mode to 'Translate What You Choose' under WPML > Settings.
2. We instructed the client to go to WPML > Translation Management, select the page they wish to translate, assign it to a translator, and then manually translate the content.
3. We provided links to relevant documentation:

4. We addressed the specific issue with the /contact page by re-translating and publishing the page in French and Spanish, which resolved the display issues on the frontend.

I am trying to: manually translate pages. We are having an issue where we cannot translate our pages, and when we attempt to even start a new page to translate, the translations do not work/stick. It may be because we haven't paid for credits yet? We were under the impression we could use WPML without the use of credits or additional payments to manually translate. We are a translation company so we do not need nor want the DeepL or other auto translation help. We simply need the boxes and ability to add the translated content, without the use of auto translation. Is that possible?

I see we have 80k credits in our account, but how do we use them to make these pages work, and is there any way to NOT use them?

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link (try to change to french or spanish and the page shows a broken totally different page)

I expected to see: the ability to manually translate my pages without the use of credits.

Instead, I got: a page that, when translated, is broken or doesnt work at all.

Hi Ben,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I’m happy to help you with this issue.

Yes, you can translate the content on your site (post, page, CPT ...) manually without using credits. Please go to WPML > Settings > Translation Mode: Translate What You Choose.
Then go to WPML > Translation Management > Select the page > Assign to a translator and translate it.
Refer documentation
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/

For the page hidden link, on my end, I don't see the translation in French or Spanish. It could be the translation page is in Draft mode. Please edit the page in French or Spanish > Publish it and see how it goes.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

Thank you for your reply.
It looks as though if you are logged out and view the /contact page, it does not show the different language drop downs.

However, if you are logged in as Admin, and view the front end of verbiogroup.com/contact, you can see the drop downs for both french & spanish (see screenshot). If those pages are clicked on, they definitely appear to be in a draft mode, even though this page is very much published.

Are we able to give you admin access so you can take a look as to what could be the issue?

Thanks!

Hi,

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.

❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
You can use this plugin to create the backup: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

I fix the issue on your site by re-translating the page into French, and Spanish languages and publish them. Now you can see the translation page displays correctly in the frontend.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks
