Hi, I have my website which I need to intergrate wpml on, basically at the moment we have Canadian content on that, and we need to make sure that main content is Canadian, so domain.com/ca/ should be the text we already uploaded, in future we will add more languages but now we just want to have domain.com/ca/ with canadian text |

Hello There, I understood what you're looking for. As the Canadian language is not listed in the pre-configured language list of WPML, you need to add the Canadian language as a custom language first and then set the Canadian language as the default language of the site. Kindly check the documentation below to understand the process of adding a custom language in WPML. - https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/editing-wpmls-languages-table/ The source language of any post or page created thereafter will be Canadian. But, if you want to change the source language of the existing posts or pages as well, kindly check out this video(hidden link) and made the adjustment on the existing pages accordingly. I hope it will help. However, I'd like to inform you that you may face some issues when you try to add "CA" as the language code for the Canadian language as it is predefined for the "Catalan" language. In that case, you can follow the instruction included by my colleague in the response below. - https://wpml.org/forums/topic/ca-language-code-already-exists/#post-10175443 Let me know if there is anything else if you need help with. I will be happy to assist you. Best Regards, |

Hi There, Glad to hear that the pages are now correctly directed to the Canadian version, and the language code is appearing in the URL as expected. I also understood your query regarding Hreflangs. I would like to inform you that WPML takes care of creating and managing the Hreflang tags automatically. WPML will add the appropriate Hreflang tags for you, even if you're using a different domain per language. However, if you want to change the hreflang or want to know more about how WPML handles hreflang, please checkout the guide mentioned below. - https://wpml.org/documentation/support/adding-hreflang-wordpress/ I hope it will help. But, please let me know if you need any further assistance or clarification in this matter. I will be happy to assist you. Best Regards, |
