Hello,
I have added the language switcher to my footer and header using the shortcode: [wpml_language_selector_widget]

However I am unable to do the following:
1. Display the language switcher using flags --> click on flag and display other language options. Alternatively, can I display the language switcher using a dropdown list, with english as default and when user clicks on the button, it displays the other available languages?
2. Is there an option to add the switcher in the header? (Similar to the footer option)

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support. I will be glad to help you in this matter.

I understood your queries. Please find the answers below.

1. Customizing the Language switcher: If you want to display the country flag, you will surely be able to do so. As you've placed the language switcher using Shortcode, please go to "WPML > Languages" and scroll down to the "Custom language Switcher" section. Enable the custom language switcher and you'll see a button named "Customize". You'll see several options to customize the Language Switcher when you click on that button.

To show the Flag, turn on the Flag option from the customizer panel. From the customizer panel, you can also change the style of the Language Switcher to Dropdown. Please check this screenshot for a better understanding: hidden link

You can also check this documentation for more information: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-switcher-options/custom-language-switcher/#the-settings-part

2. Language Switcher on Header: It is possible to display the language switcher anywhere on the site. If you want, you can add the language switcher to the Menu on the header. Kindly check the documentation below to know where you can add the language switcher and the process.

To put the language switcher in a specific location in the header, you can use the Language switcher shortcode.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. I will be happy to help.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit
