This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to create translated versions of your courses and lessons using LearnDash and WPML, following the instructions from the WPML documentation. However, the instructions and images do not match what you see on your site. Additionally, when you switch to a new language in the front end and click on your course, it redirects back to English. If you switch the language again, all lessons disappear and display an access error.
Solution:
First, ensure that after translating courses and lessons automatically, you connect them in the second language, similar to how you created them in the original language. Also, verify that the posts (courses, lessons) are published in the second language and not in Draft mode. If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be due to outdated instructions or a specific configuration on your site. We recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.

If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket with us.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to use the instructions at the link below to create translated versions of my course and lessons but the instructions and images in this link are very different than what I see as I try to use them. I using automatic translations so I started with #4 as it states to do on the page. https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/how-to-create-multilingual-online-courses-websites-using-learndash-and-wpml/#manually-connecting-courses-and-elements

Symptoms:
Currently, when I switch to one of the new languages in the front end and then click on my course it switches back to English when it directs to the Course page. If I then try to switch my language back to a language other than English, all of the lessons disappear and it says (in that language) that I do not have access to the course. (I'm the admin so I should have access to everything).

Questions:
Why do the instructions and images in the provided link differ from what I see?
Why does the course switch back to English when I select a new language and click on my course to see the lessons?
Why do all the lessons disappear and show an access error when switching back to the original language?

Hi Keith,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I’m happy to help you with this issue.

Can you please share some screenshots of the issue on your site? After translating courses and lessons automatically, you have to connect them in the second language as you create courses and lessons in the original language.

Also, please ensure the posts (courses, lessons) are published in the second language, not in Draft mode.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

I figured it out, the instructions did not seem clear to me at first but it was a matter of me playing around with the platform to figure out what I needed to do.
