This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where product variations are not being copied over when duplicating a product.
Solution:
We recommend ensuring that the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin is installed and activated, as it is necessary for translating WooCommerce products and their variations. Here are the steps to resolve the issue:
1. Install and activate the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin from the "Plugins > Add new > Commercial" tab.
2. Delete the existing duplicated product.
3. Open the original product in the editor, make a small change, and save it.
4. Try to translate the product again.
If you are on a Multilingual Blog subscription, you will need to upgrade to a Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency Account to use the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin. You can upgrade your account by paying the difference in cost through your WPML.ORG account at https://wpml.org/account/.

If this solution does not seem relevant to your situation, please open a new support ticket at our support forum.

Tell us what you are trying to do?

I duplicate a product with variations. Open the duplicated product to check. See all contents successfully copied except the variation section which is totally empty - no variation products in the list which I can see in the original product. The obvious solution to solve it - add new variations manually by generating new ones based on the selected attribute of the original product but this should not be the case. Why are variations not copied from the original product?

Is there any documentation that you are following?
I followed the recommendations described here as similar issues

Is there a similar example that we can see?
no sure

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

I understand the issue you're having and will try my best to assist you in this matter.

The variation may not transfer to the translated product version if its translation preference isn't correctly configured. Could you kindly provide the WPML Debug info from your site so that I can get a better overview of the site and system? It can also help me to find a solution for the issue quickly.

To get the WPML debug info, please check this guide: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

Please paste the information within the debug info box that you'll see while leaving the next response.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello There,
Thanks for providing the WPML Debug Info.

As it is a public forum, please don't share any sensitive information related to your site in public response. If we need any information like login or debug info we will enable a private box for you so that you can securely share the information. I hope you can understand.

However, I've checked and found that the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin is not Installed on your site. To translate WooCommerce Products and their variations effectively, it's essential to have the WooCommerce Multilingual Plugin.

Please check this link for more information: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/

You can Install and Activate the plugin from the "Plugins > Add new > Commercial" tab.

Once the plugin is activated and the setup is completed, please try the following:

- Delete the existing duplicated product
- Open the default Product in Editor and make a small change
- Save the changes and then try to translate the product again

Please let me know how it goes. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hi There,
Thank you for the Update.

I noticed that you are subscribed to the Multilingual Blog Account. This subscription is primarily intended for users with simple sites who wish to translate pages, posts, and content within Custom post types. For additional details, please refer to the following article.

To effectively translate WooCommerce Products, it's necessary to install the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin. This plugin offers various features enabling you to operate your WooCommerce Shop in multiple languages and currencies. For further details, please refer to the guide below.

The WooCommerce Multilingual plugin is included with either a Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency Account. Therefore, to use the plugin, you will need to upgrade your account type. You can conveniently upgrade directly through your WPML.ORG account (https://wpml.org/account/) by simply paying the difference in cost.

I hope you can understand. Please let me know if you need further assistance or clarification in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hi There,
Thank you for your reply! Is there a way to use the existing basic package and still duplicate the variations properly?

Hi There,

I understand your request, however, what you're asking for is not possible. WooCommerce variations are stored in a non-public custom post type called 'Product_variation'. The functionality to retrieve posts from this post type and include them correctly in the variations section of the translated product is exclusively a feature of the 'WooCommerce Multilingual' plugin. Therefore, even if you duplicate the products, the variations will not be duplicated without using the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin.

This plugin is not just for adding functionality to translate WooCommerce products accurately, but also because it manages various settings within WooCommerce. The WooCommerce Multilingual plugin ensures these settings function effectively in a multilingual setup.

I hope you can understand the matter. If you want variations in your translated products, then you must need to activate the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin, otherwise, you have to manually create the Variations for the translated product.

If there is anything else you want to share or need further assistance, please let me know. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hi, thank you for support! Could please inform me how can I have the swatch images/color codes be included in a translated product too? Currently, the translated product instead of having swatches simply displays a dropdown list of variation

Hello There,
I hope you're doing well. Sorry for the delay in responding due to the weekend.

I can understand the issue you're having with swatches, However, I'd like to inform you that we are allowed to discuss one issue per ticket to maintain clarity and organization in each thread. Since the issue that you mentioned in your last response is different than the issue you reported while creating the ticket, I created a new ticket for you to address the issue separately. A response will be sent to that ticket soon.

If the issue mentioned initially in this ticket has been solved, could you kindly mark this thread as resolved?

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hi Prosenjit,

By unknown reasons, I cannot create a new ticket but my problem is important.

I duplicate a product with variations to another language. The duplicated products display all product variations in the dropdown but the original product variations in the dropdown somehow dont show up at all. Can you investigate and provide a solution please?

Hi There,
I hope you're doing well.

I have already opened a separate ticket for you to specifically address the issue you're having with variation swatches. A response has been sent to that ticket as well. Would you please check the response and share further updates in response to that particular ticket?

Best regards,
Prosenjit
