[Resolved] my website translation is not well and it interrupts the function of my website
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing issues with their website after attempting to translate it using WPML. The translation process is disrupting the functionality of the website, including WooCommerce operations. Specific problems include booking form errors, JavaScript errors, mixed language content, and currency/checkout conflicts. Solution: We recommended installing and setting up the 'WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce' plugin to address the issues. The client should: 1. Navigate to Plugins > Add new > Commercial tab, select 'WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce' plugin, install and activate it. 2. Follow the setup wizard and adjust settings from WooCommerce → WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce menu as needed. 3. For untranslated strings, go to WPML → String Translation and ensure all strings are translated manually if they are not automatically translated by the theme. 4. Review the documentation for further guidance on setting up multicurrency and resolving JavaScript errors: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
If these steps do not resolve the issues or if the solution seems outdated or irrelevant, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If problems persist, please open a new support ticket for personalized assistance. You can do so here: WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
you have been inactive, so I have created this ticket. Lets continue here, and check one thing at time.
1) In order to expedite handling your support requests, can you please share WPML support debug information from your site.
- To give debug information, login to your site and go to WPML → Support. From there click on the “debug information” link at the bottom of the page. - Once on the “debug information” page, select the entire content of the text box and copy it. - Now go back to our support forum, find debug information box and paste it.
More information on the link: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/
2) For multicurrency, did you already install our required add-on WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce and setup currencies correctly? Please check.
You have Wocommerce and for it to work correctly with WPML, you need to install our add-on plugin "WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency" and configure it.
I advise please to check and read related shared documentation:
Sure! To clarify, I suggested some steps for you to try in setting up multicurrency, since we’re checking that issue in this ticket.
Could you please let me know if you’ve gone through those steps and, if so, whether you got stuck at a specific point while following the documentation?
Honestly, I think my theme is not compatible with WPML. I have also requested a refund, as it has greatly affected my website. It is very difficult to manage and, to be honest, I am discouraged.
To move things forward, let’s focus on the issue from this ticket, and take 1 thing at time. I’ve already shared the documentation with the steps for setting up currencies — could you please let us know:
- If you had a chance to follow those steps,
- If something didn’t work at a specific step, or
- If you got stuck and couldn’t proceed further.
If any part of our instructions wasn’t clear, let us know which one and we’ll be happy to clarify.
And of course, if you encounter any other issue and need WPML support, feel free to open a new live chat — we’ll gladly assist.
Hi Dražen,
Thanks for your reply.
I did follow your steps, watched the videos, and read the documentation. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t work on my site and it changes both the appearance and the way the site functions.
What I did
Followed the currency setup steps you shared.
Went through the general WPML + WP Rentals setup guides and videos.
Tried to fix issues with your support’s help — I’d say around 60% is done, but the remaining 40% is still blocking my launch.
Problems I’m seeing (consistently)
Booking form breaks
“Please select the number of guests / capacity 0 guests” errors even when listings have capacity ≥ 1.
Date picker and guests field stop working, especially on Safari.
Console shows errors (examples I saw while troubleshooting):
Can't find variable: jQuery
jQuery(...).autocomplete is not a function / jQuery.datepicker.setDefaults undefined
Moment.js warning/fallback on date format → date range picker fails to initialize
In private windows it sometimes works, in normal windows it breaks again, which suggests cookie/cache conflicts together with WPML modules enabled.
Mixed languages on the same page
Some strings remain in English while others switch to French (or the opposite).
Certain WP Rentals / WooCommerce strings aren’t recognized or translated properly, so pages end up mixed EN/FR.
Currency/checkout conflicts
My shop needs EUR, USD, GNF, XAF, XOF. With WPML/WCML enabled, checkout sometimes falls back to USD or conflicts with my existing currency selection and WooCommerce geolocation.
I noticed the wcml_client_currency cookie can override the site’s currency choice and create inconsistency between product pages, cart, and checkout.
Performance/appearance issues
Higher CPU usage and visual glitches when WPML modules are active.
Accessibility and layout regressions appear (and disappear) depending on the session/cache.
My situation
I don’t have coding or web-design experience. WPML is too technical for me to finish alone.
With your help I managed a lot (≈60%), but the remaining ≈40% is critical for my booking/checkout and I can’t resolve it by myself despite following the steps.
My request
Could you please assign someone who can help me hands-on to finish the remaining blocking parts and get a stable result?
What I need is simple in goals (even if complex technically):
A clean EN ↔ FR public site with WP Rentals where booking (dates + guests) works on Safari/Chrome/Firefox,
Currencies remain consistent from listing → cart → checkout (EUR, USD, GNF, XAF, XOF) without forced USD,
No mixed languages on the same page, and no JS errors breaking the booking UI.
If you can provide step-by-step guidance directly on my setup (or a short remote session / staging review), I’m happy to cooperate and provide access. I want to make WPML work if possible, but I need practical assistance to get over these last hurdles.
Thank you for understanding,
Larissa
Thank you for getting back to us. I understand you’re facing several issues, so here’s the approach I suggest:
Support calls – We don’t provide direct call support, but in your WPML welcome email there should be a link for a coaching session. Through that, you can request a call with our team.
Forms and JS errors – Please try disabling WPML temporarily to confirm if these issues are actually related to WPML or not.
Currency behavior – For logged-in users, geolocation is always forced to their shipping address. That’s how the system is designed to work, and it’s also explained in the documentation I shared earlier.
Untranslated strings – Go to WPML → String Translation and ensure all strings are translated. Some strings added by your theme may not be translated in the theme files by default, so they need to be translated manually.
If none of this helps, I recommend starting a new chat and focusing on one issue at a time. That way our team can address each problem step by step until everything is resolved.
I can also open a new ticket for you and we go over 1 issue at time, but I believe using chat will be a faster experience.
