Hello, I have a website in one language and I just want to translate it to the English version and turn off the original language.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support, I will gladly help you.

You can translate your website and after the translation is complete you can:
- change the default language to English,
- after, go to WP-Admin -> WPML -> Languages -> Hide languages section,
- check the checkbox next to the language you want to hide and click "Save"

Please find more detailed information on this link: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/hiding-languages-on-the-front-end/

I hope you find this information helpful.

Regards,
Marsel

ok, the problem is still in the url, I keep adding the /en prefix, how to turn it off so that my new language is added to the mother page

While you'll be translating the page, you should keep the as a default language the mother language, and the "/en" showing at the URL is expected until you set English as a default language and hide the mother language.

After you have finished the translations, you should switch to English as a default language and follow the instructions I shared in my previous reply to hide the mother language.

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

I would need temporary access to your site's WP-admin to investigate this issue and understand it better, please create an administrator user using any email address you prefer.

Please fully back up your site (files and database) and confirm it in your next reply.
* Note: I might need to enable/disable plugins, switch themes, and access your website database.

Your next reply is set to private for you to provide the username and password details.

You can safely add your information to these fields.

Thanks,
Marsel

Hi,

Thank you for the access, I was able to check your website and you need to un-check the checkbox next to "Use directory for default language" on the page WP-Admin -> WPML -> Languages -> Language URL format.

After you un-checked that option the default language shouldn't show the "/en".

* Please check the attached image regarding which checkbox I am referring to.

Let me know how it goes,
Marsel

ok, it works, but now I see that after translating the page, the products have not been included in the product image gallery

Hi,

Per our Support Policy, we can handle only one issue per ticket.

Continuing with one issue per ticket helps supporters focus on one issue at once and enables other users to find solutions to their questions faster.

I created a new ticket for you regarding the new question here:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/split-products-have-not-been-included-in-the-product-image-gallery/

If the issue you were facing with the "/en" being added at the URL, please mark this current ticket as resolved.

Thank you.
