This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is experiencing a critical error on their site after enabling both the WPML plugin and Optimize Press. The error log indicates an issue with the WPML_URL_Filters::home_url_filter() function, which is expecting more arguments than provided.
Solution:
First, ensure you have a full backup of your site and database. If you have access to the WPML dashboard, navigate to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting and perform the following actions:
- Synchronize posts taxonomies
- Clear the cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Set language information
- Synchronize local job IDs
- Fix Terms count
- Fix post assignment for translations
If you cannot access your dashboard, follow these steps:
1. Use FTP to access the /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
2. Delete the sitepress-multilingual-cms and wpml-string-translation plugins.
3. Download the latest versions of the WPML plugins from https://wpml.org/account/downloads/.
4. Temporarily deactivate all plugins on your site.
5. Go to Plugins → All Plugins and upload the WPML plugins.
6. Reactivate them and then activate the rest of the plugins.
If these steps do not resolve the issue or if the solution seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
