Background of the issue:
I am trying to resolve an issue similar to the one described in this forum post: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/root-page-not-redirecting-to-home-page/. The problem is related to the root page not redirecting to the home page. You can see the issue on my site here: hidden link.

Symptoms:
The root page is not redirecting to the home page as expected.
