Hi there

We're building up an international webshop and were wondering how to build the URL-Structures to be best possibly SEO compliant.

Our base language is German (www.site.com). Now we also added English in WPML and decided to add the /en/ parameter to each URL when switching to this language.

As we're using WooCommerce, would it be the best way from an SEO perspective to i.e. create the cart and checkout pages like this?`

Option 1
---
English: hidden link
German: hidden link (warenkorb in German = Basket)
English: hidden link
German: hidden link (kasse in German = Checkout)

Option 2
---
English: hidden link
German: hidden link
English: hidden link
German: hidden link

Thank you so much for your help and advice.

Best
Rafael

Hi there,

WPML is SEO friendly, therefore your German content will rank on it's own for German Search Engine results.

I would personally recommend translating the slug to match the language.

This is a good documentation to read on how to optimize your WPML site for SEO
