This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
You are setting up a conference site in both French and English and want to know if it's possible to use WPML to manage one site with two different domains for each language.
Solution:
We can confirm that WPML fully supports using different domains per language. Here's how you can set it up:
1. Ensure you have the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin installed and activated.
2. Have both domains pointing to the same WordPress installation.
3. Ensure your DNS settings and server configuration allow both domains to resolve to the same WordPress instance.
To configure WPML:
1. Navigate to WPML → Languages in your WordPress dashboard.
2. Scroll to the 'Language URL format' section.
3. Select 'A different domain per language'.
4. Assign each language to its respective domain, for example:
• englishsite.com → English
• frenchsite.fr → French
5. Save your settings.
Please note, both domains must be properly configured in DNS and must point to the same server and WordPress site. Your web server (Apache/Nginx) must also be configured to serve the same WordPress site for both domains.
For more details, please refer to this documentation.
If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.
