This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client reported that the English version of their website was displaying mixed content in English and French, including forms and property details. This issue seemed related to the translation settings in the theme's backend, where languages were mixed without any recent changes made by the client.
Solution:
We advised the client to ensure they are using the latest versions of the WPML plugins by checking for updates in the Plugins > Add New > Commercial section. We also suggested re-adding strings in the default language and re-translating them to check if the issue persists. Additionally, we recommended not translating labels from the theme options but using the WPML String Translation instead. If the problem continues, we suggested creating a staging site for further debugging to avoid issues on the live site.
Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket for personalized assistance.

Hi Ilyes, Your explanations were clear, but seeing my site broken just after your intervention suggested to me that something did not go as planned. But after clearing my caches, everything went back to normal, so... All good. Like I said, my site was perfect at some point, so I don't see how the french labels could be loaded upon the installation of my site, which was installed about weeks/months ago. It took a long time (weeks) for this behavior to happen (without me touching anything), so I believe the behavior may not reproduce in just 1 day, but I am not the expert, so I don't know. Also, I can assure you that nobody typed these french labels manually. Why would someone do that, change some labels into french language and leave the others in english (Not me, for sure), and you are the only one having access to my website backend. (I believe there is a glitch somewhere, not sure how this can happen...) I completely trust you that you did not make these changes! I would definitely love to be able to contact you in case this happens again (it's not the first time it happens). How should I do to contact you? (Not sure how do contact you specifically). Thank you. for your assistance! Kind Regards, |

Ok, I will do that, thank you for your support. Also, I am just noticing this translation "Mes Mandats exclusifs", on this page hidden link is wrong. This translation is a translation I made at some point, months ago, but I corrected it since then, weeks ago to "Affaires Conclues" and it was fine for weeks. Suddenly, it's showing "Mes Mandats exclusifs"... This is CRAAAAZYYYYY..... WPML is driving me CRAAAAZYYYYY... So I just tried to translate that string in WPML > String translation, and there, the translation for "Past Deals" is well translated to "Affaires Conclues". Again, why this translation changed by itself? And how can I fix it now? Terrible, terrible, terrible experience with WPML... Sorry I know you're doing your best but obviously, WPML is definitely not accomplished, even after all this years of experience, at least not with Houzez theme... |

I wonder if what triggers all of this is the last update from Houzez... |

Hello, It is not the update that triggered this, If you check the strings under String Translation, you will see that the right translation is applied : hidden link So the issue is from a different location, specifically here : hidden link You see that the translation of the page itself using the WPML translation editor is where this header is translated and it is showing the wrong translation, So I totally think this is in relation to the switch to the newer translation editor, the advanced editor (ATE) loaded these translation automatically, so I simply had to edit and correct this translation. This is totally normal as changing the editor for new translations will not maintain the translation you've done with the classic translation editor (CTE), And this will only affect your new translations and not the old ones, the old translations are edited and maintained with CTE, the new one will use ATE. Let me know if you have any questions about this, |

I am not sure if I have ever used the CTE for this website, I don't think so, but... I don't think in an ideal world, switching from CTE to the ATE should impact past translations anyway. WPML team should work on that... If we make a little mistake and change the editor, boom, we get into some trouble, it should not be this way in my opinion. BUt anyway, thank you for your help in translating this header. Also, today, I created a new property (in english), then I created a translation in french, with the ATE. Initially, I added "Monthly" to the price in the english version, which I translated into "Mensuel" (for the french property), in the ATE. However, I decided to remove "Monthly" & "Mensuel" from the price, and leave the price only. So I deleted "Monthly" from the english version, thinking it would also delete the "Mensuel" from the french version, but it did not. To edit a property, I go to "Real Estate" (On the black left side WP backend bar) > then I hit the "Edit button" below the Title of the property (Edgewater Miami, the last property I created). Then I scroll down to "After the Price" section, and make my modification. How can I remove "Mensuel" from the price, on the french version of the last property I enter? Thank you in advance for your assistance. |

Hello, CTE was enabled as the default before, I knew this because as per our previous ticket here : https://wpml.org/forums/topic/cannot-see-the-submit-label-of-my-houzez-contact-form-widget-in-ate/page/2/#post-16715088 I remember I noticed the change to ATE, which allowed us to better translate your URLs with houzez, Also, changing the editor actually gives you warnings and notice (it can't easily be changed by mistake) and by default, it uses the option to only use the newly configured editor for new translations (this is what is currently configured on your site : hidden link). Right now, for what concerns your site, ATE is your default editor, a more powerful and capable editor. --- For the Monthly field, It is an expected behavior but here is an explanation and a workaround : 1- That field is set to "translate" to be translatable by the author under WPML > Settings: hidden link , and its data is cached by Houzez You could temporarely set this field " fave_property_price_postfix But instead, it is better to simply retranslate the property from scratch. 2- Error when re-translating the property PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function get_source_language_code() on bool in /home/u596529853/domains/arnaudhomburger.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/inc/functions-load-tm.php:505 I seems deleting a translation wasn't enough as the theme keeps a copy of it in the database, unrecommended method. With that said, I simply duplicated the original and translated the duplicate and it is now translated as draft : hidden link You can publish it, but I thought you could confirm that the data is correct before that. So as a conclusion, either change the field settings temporarily OR Duplicate the Property and retranslate it (it will be translated automatically using the translation memory). Best, |

Regarding the change of editor, my response to you was the same at that time, I did not recall changing from CTE to ATE. You mentioned that at that time as well, but I did not do that (as far as I remember). I always had the same editor. But anyway, let's move-on with this because that's not helping us here. I will make sure I never change the editor in the futur and stick with ATE. Regarding my issue (removing the word "Mensuel" on my last property (french version), you will admit that in terms of user friendliness, we see better... This whole process just to remove one word is insane, I would have rather just leave it like that if I had known it was going to be that complicated... Also, for your information, I mass mailed a link (in english and in french) of this property to all my clients this morning (I am promoting this property), so your intervention caused those links to be broken. I was not expecting you to delete any properties just to remove 1 word, and I literally just sent 1 hour to fix the links, so they can match the one I mass mailed this morning to my clients and so they can open them. Anyway, I maintain that WPML is a different animal, and at the era of AI, I am hopping we will be able to translate website much easier than that in the futur, that's all I hope for: You know where I come from... However, if there is 1 single I thing I find positive with WPML, is its support (specifically, your support). So thank you for all the efforts and have a great day! Best, |

Hello Arnaud, My apologies for causing this confusion with the promotion email, I did not expect such impact. And I totally agree that this is not as user friendly as it should be, but please keep in mind that all this varies from one theme to another, and this is a specific use case for Houzez. I understand that this shouldn't be an excuse, but we as WPML are always pushing authors to improve their code to better adhere to multilingual standard (not only WPML, but for all multilingual plugins in general) You can see "better" results of our partnerships with more established theme authors like Astra, this is why your report are really important for us, as we send every single issue to houzez author. Sometimes we can fix it ourselves (through workarounds and XML code), sometimes it is up to the authors to add a fix (coding issues). I'm writing you in hope you get a better idea on how WPML works with thousands of different themes, its a cooperative work from several partners and the work of consecutive testing and support reports. One step at a time, |

Hello Ilyes, It's ok, I know you're doing your best to support, and I really appreciate it! I understand that the compatibility with WPML depends on the collaboration between theme authors and your team. It's just misleading when you read "Full compatibility 100% between Houzez & WPML" on both, your website and Houzez website. After all, if I would have known the difficulties that I would be facing with WPML/Houzez, I would have probably opted for another theme in the first place. But after months of work on my website, day and night, it would be just hard to start all over again from scratch... Now, the only thing I can hope for is for Houzez & WPML to improve their compatibility. Thank you again for your support. |
