This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're experiencing issues with translating some ACF fields on your website, where some fields translate correctly while others do not, even though you have installed the Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual plugin, this summary might help.
Solution:
We recommend following these steps:
1. Navigate to ACF >> Field Groups.
2. Edit the field group where the issue occurs, for example, the Hero section field group.
3. Set the problematic fields, such as the Hero Points repeater field, to "Copy".
4. Make a small update on the default language home page and re-translate the page. If the issue persists, check if the same field name is used across different field groups. WPML requires that all custom fields have unique names.
5. Change the conflicting field names in the problematic field groups. For example, change hero_points to hero_points_sports and points to points_sports in the Sports Hero field group.
6. After updating these field names, edit the home page in the default language, make a minor change to reload the translation, and revert it.
For more information on translating ACF blocks with WPML, you can refer to this guide: Translating ACF Blocks with WPML.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Subject: Issue with Translating ACF Fields in WPML

Dear WPML Support Team,

I am encountering an issue with translating some of the ACF fields on my website. I have created several ACF fields, but while some of them translate correctly, others do not. I have already installed the required ACF-related translation plugin named Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual, but the issue persists.

To better explain the problem, I have recorded a video demonstrating the issue and attached it to this ticket.

I would appreciate your help in resolving this issue as soon as possible. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. Thanks for sharing the video. Please note that the ACF fields content can be translated only either using the WPML Translation Editor or the default WP Editor but not from WPML >> String Translation page.

Please try to set the ACF fields settings by following the any of the below steps:

Method 1:
If you are using WPML Translation Editor for translating your site pages and you want to use same fields across languages. Then, please follow the below steps:

1. Go to the ACF >> Field Groups.
2. Edit the ACF Hero section field group in which you are facing the issues.
3. Choose the “Same Fields Across Languages” option and it will set the field settings automatically.

Method 2:
If you want to use Expert translation mode and want to adjust field settings according to your needs manually, then please try to follow the below steps:

1. Go to the ACF >> Field Groups.
2. Edit the ACF Hero section field group in which you are facing the issues.
3. Set the Hero Points repeater field to “Copy” or “Copy Once”
4. Set the Points text field to “Translate”.

After settings the field settings according to any of the above method, please try to follow the below procedure:

1. Open the default language page in Edit mode.
2. Make a small change, for example, add a space or + sign in your page/post title.
3. Update the page by pressing the “Update” button.
4. Now, remove that small change that did in step #2.
5. Update the page again.
6. Now, please try to open the translated page in WPML Translation Editor or the default WP Editor and translate the ACF field content.

Please let me know the results,
Thank you

Subject: Issue with Translating ACF Fields via WPML

Dear WPML Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am currently facing an issue with translating ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) on my site using WPML. Although I have successfully subscribed and tried saving the page with 4 options, some ACF fields are not being translated.

My site’s default language is set to English, and I want to convert it to Czech (CS). However, when I go to the translation page, the ACF text is not appearing for translation. Despite trying multiple methods, I am unable to get the ACF fields to translate properly.

This issue is critical for us, and we would greatly appreciate your prompt assistance in resolving it. If you need any further details or access to the site, please let me know, and I will provide them right away.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,

1. Could you please confirm that you've followed all the steps from my previous reply?

2. Please share the frontend page link where I can view the issue.

3. Are you still experiencing issues with the “Hero section” field group, as shown in the video, or are the issues now affecting a different ACF field group?

4. Please provide temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP Login info) to your site (preferably staging site), so that I can look into your setup and debug the issue.

Your next answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

=== Please backup your database and website ===

✙ I would additionally need your permission to deactivate and reactivate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is essential.

Thank you

I followed these steps to address the issue:

1. Navigated to ACF >> Field Groups .
2. Edited the ACF Hero section field group where the issue was occurring.
3. Set the Hero Points repeater field to “Copy”.
4. Made a small update on the default language home page and re-translated the page, but the issue persisted.

Upon further investigation, I found that the same field name was used across two other field groups. This conflicts with WPML’s requirement that all custom fields have unique names, as stated in the documentation:

No matter your translation method, ensure each custom field has a unique Field Name, especially across different field groups for blocks. Using the same Field Name for multiple fields may prevent some field values from appearing in the Translation Editor.

To resolve this, I changed the conflicting field names in two other field groups as follows:

1. Sports Hero field group: hidden link
I changed the field names:
- hero_points to hero_points_sports
- points to points_sports

2. Sports New L-Hero field group:
hidden link
I changed the field name:
- points to points_sports_new

After updating these field names, I edited the home page in the default language, made a minor change to reload the translation, and reverted it. Now, I’m able to translate the points field data successfully as you can see in the attached screenshots.

For more information, you can refer to this guide:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/translating-acf-blocks-with-wpml/

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you need further assistance.

Thank you

Subject: Translation Issues

Hello WPML Support Team,

Thank you for your support with my previous issue. I’m writing because I’ve couple of problems with the translation process:

Continuously Loading on Complete Translation: When I edit a translation and click "Complete Translation," the process takes an unusually long time. It just keeps loading and doesn’t complete the translation.

Content Being not Translate at Time: After Complete Translation it is not being translated it will translate after very long time.

Formatting Tags/Markers Issue: I am still facing an issue when translating content with formatting tags or markers. Sometimes the content is not translated, and I also receive the following warning:

"The original sentence includes formatting markers, however, not all markers are applied to the translation."

I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving these issues.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards,

Glad to hear the ACF translation issue is solved now. For the translation problem in ATE, it’s a different issue and will be handled separately as per our support policy. I've created a new ticket for this at: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translation-issues-in-ate/

If the ACF translation issue on home page is solved, please mark this ticket as resolved and we will continue working on the above ticket for it.

Thank you for your cooperation
