For now, I can update you that the issue has been escalated to our developers. The problem will be fixed in a future version of the Advanced Translation Editor. I'll keep you updated here when it is released.
I hope you are well, it has been another 5 weeks or so since we last touched base.
I know you said developers were working on it for a future release, but I was hoping for an update or ETA on this.
As our site continues to grow (we continue to add posts every week), and this comes with a lot of internal linking, therefore updating translations for 4-6 posts for every post we create.
It is still the case that most shortcodes disappear from the ATE every time we make an update and require updating the translation.
Some have a few shortcodes, and others have 20 or 30....it is such a waste of time having to manually update them each time.
It just recorded a video of the process, and it adds a lot of time when having to manually update (about 30mins per new post added, assuming 5 or 6 internal links). If anyone needs it to understand better, then let me know how I can forward it.
Can you please let me know how they are going or if it is even a priority? If it is not going to get fixed, we may consider dropping multilingual altogether (we have many other regular issues with translating/multilingual), and each issue carries a bit of weight to our decision.
If it is not going to get fixed, I would appreciate being informed, and if it is 100% being worked on and we will not have to wait another year, then I'd also love to get some info.
I can see in our internal documentation that the fix for this will be released in a future version of ATE. But I'm unsure of when it will be released. I asked our second-tier supporter to find out with our developers and provide more details on this so I can inform you.
I was not having a go at anyone or complaining, it is just that this problem and trying to find a solution have been going on for around a year now. And, it is very frustrating and time-consuming to deal with.
Hence, I just continue to follow up to stay on top of it, and hopefully it will get resolved.
I've heard from our developers regarding your issue. They have not forgotten about it; however, they are now focused on other priorities with the release of the new version. I'm sorry that this is the case and hope they will have the time to address your case soon. I'll keep you updated when I have news.
