Did that and now WordPress is talking to WPML, was able to update the plugins, thank you! One problem still, which maybe you could provide some guidance on. The French side is still not accessible, so we must have the settings wrong. Any tips?
It only works with the French URLs using the English URLs + fr. We want the French pages to use the amisdulacbernard.org URL. But if we add that setting in WPML, the French links don't work.
If you want amisdulacbernard.org to open in French, you need to change your site's default language to French in WPML → Languages → Site Languages and click on "Change default language". In that case, the links become as follows: amisdulacbernard.org for French and amisdulacbernard.org/en/ for English.
If this is not what you are asking, please elaborate a little more so I can better understand.
Hi Andrey. I have set that up as the article directs (have done that before but it didn't work), and it still doesn't work. If I select 2 urls it does validate amidulacbernard.org but then when I go to that url I see the english version of the site.
I had asked Rebel to check the DNS records and they confirmed they are correct, but to be sure, when the 2 url selection is not clicked, amisdulacbernard.org points to friendsoflakebernard.org which is what the article said.
here is the english html for that section of the page, and the french beside it. You can see where I pasted the code you provided. But it isn't working as illustrated above.
I have looked at your website, and it still has the option "Different languages in directories "activated.
If I select 2 urls it does validate amidulacbernard.org but then when I go to that url I see the english version of the site.
Can you show me this?
You need to ensure that all your domains (or subdomains) point to the same WordPress site where WPML is installed.
You can try deactivating the "Validate on save" option, entering your second domain, saving your changes, and then testing the domain to see if it works. Sometimes, the validation message can be a false positive. Check if you can access it using your secondary domain. If it doesn't work, your second domain is might not be configured correctly.
