Split: the main title and subtitle

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was unable to update the site title and subtitle in different languages. Previously, they could change these in the settings under 'General' for each language, but now saving changes in one language caused the titles to revert to English.

Solution:
1. We clarified that the site title from WordPress settings is not the same as the page content/title. The client should add the title in the default language and then translate it using WPML String Translation.

2. We identified that the string the client mentioned is from an SEO plugin and appears in different parts of the website/code. We provided documentation on how to set SEO titles and descriptions:

3. If the string to translate is from theme PHP files or theme options, we directed the client to a guide on how to translate theme options:

4. We also addressed the client's concern about translations disappearing and suggested re-translating the strings or importing them back from an old backup if available.

In a follow-up, we reiterated that while it is possible to add translations for the site title in WP Settings in both languages, it is not the recommended approach. Instead, the client should use WPML String Translation, referencing the following sources:

Sergio	Thank you. Another thing that disappeared is the main title and subtitle. Before I used to change them in the settings => general. When the settings => general were in English I could edit the EN titles, and in PL I could edit the PL titles. Now if I edit the PL titles and click "save changes", the English appear back again. If I check in "strings translation", I see the right translations are provided. But still English titles are showing:

You can add only in the default language and then need to translate it via WPML String translation. (site-title) 2) The string you shared in your image is from SEO plugin, and they show up in different parts of your website/code. Related docs: - hidden link - hidden link 3) The string you wish to translate is coming from your theme PHP files or from theme options. I am not sure from where you added it, but if it is from theme options you can translate following next guide: - https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/how-to-translate-theme-options/ 4) Also I saw your last message in the previous ticket, I understand your concern but I am afraid as I explained already, I am afraid there is not much I can help with as to why the translation disappeared and were working a few months ago. Sergio	Well, maybe the behavior changed, but that was wrong until few days ago. The blog title and subtitle I could change normally via settings -> general. I have other sites where such titles are also changeable from the settings. Here is how it looks like now: hidden link In anahatatantra.com website the same behavior was there until few days ago. Now you are saying that this is the normal behavior. So why it was working always differently since many years? Why other websites are also working this way, that I can just switch the translation and I can apply different translations just by editing the settings of a particular language? === I was able to find the untranslated tag. Strange that it disappeared. Yes, I know you don't know also. I think we can closed this ticket right now. But still strange that you say that the blog title and description should be editable only on string translation, but in this site was changable in the general-settings until few days ago, and I have another site that still works this way.

As for the WP Settings site title, you are correct you can add translation in both languages, I just also checked and it works like that but still, that is not the correct or recommended approach, you should translate it via WPML String translation. Sergio	Thank you for your help. I was able to re-translate something and it is almost good. I think my next question can be probably transferred to a new ticket. I see that almost all the pages have the right breadcrumb translation (which was done automatically, and the breadcrumb takes the page title automatically). But for some reason this page hidden link seems to be the only page that has an English text in the breadcrumb. It has "Articles" but it should have "Wiedza". When I search "Artcles" in string translation I see only the main title. Can you please help?
