This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client lost access to their old test site and all associated files, including the database, due to a server block. They are concerned about whether they need to purchase more credits for translating a new test domain or if they can recover previous translations.
Solution:
1. We advised the client to re-register their site with a new WPML license key, as this is necessary for updates and automatic translations.
2. We clarified that translations are stored in the client's website database and not maintained on our side. However, we can assist by copying the translation memory from the old site to the new one. This will allow the client to reuse previous translations without additional charges when they translate the same pages or segments.
3. The client should first ensure that WPML is activated and functioning on the new domain. After translating a test page, they should inform us so we can proceed with transferring the translation memory.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket.

Thanks Drazen.
We are in a bit of a situation here.

Our test domain was on another server. But the server blocked our test site, and all the files are gone too. This is our new test domain. hidden link

I'm thinking of switching the domain to the next test domain. But I have a question in my mind: Do I have to purchase more credits for the test domain translation since all the files are gone? Or is it possible to just switch the domain and get all previous translations back?

Thanks

Hello,

You should re-register the key, since this is required for updates and automatic translations.

Translations are saved in your DB and on our side in translation memory. So I am not sure, you do not have translation anymore since this is a new website version and not using same Database? Now you want to re-translate it again or you have a translation on your website / database, just wondering about translation memory?

Let me know.

Regards,
Drazen

We completely lost access to the old test site and all the files in it. The current test site is a completely new copy of the main site, which doesn't have any connection with the old test site. Let me know if it is possible to restore the translations from your end's memory. If yes, how do I do it? If not, let me know the next steps.
Thanks

Hello,

We do not keep translations from our side, they are saved in your website database.

What I can do is copy translation memory from the old website to the new, and then when you send for translation same pages/segments they will be loaded from that memory and you will not be charged for it.

First, make sure you have activated WPML on your domain and translation is working, then let me know and I will do the work in the backend from our side. For example, translate 1 test page.

Drazen

We didn't find the database, unfortunately. All gone.
What next?
Should I restart by adding a new site on WPML? Or do I just copy and paste the site key to the new site?

Hello,

You need to register WPML on your website with a new license key and set up WPML, then do 1 translation and get back to me.

You can remove the old website URL from your WPML.org account.
