Background of the issue:
I am experiencing performance issues on my staging site, hidden link, and I am trying to increase the server speed. I am not following any specific documentation.
Symptoms:
The staging site is extremely slow due to ACFML and flexible layouts.
Questions:
Is there anything that can be done? We have multiple ACF flexible layouts and it looks like it's the culprit.
Please take into account that this is a public forum, the credentials you've shared have been exposed (I already removed them). If we need access to the site, we will provide a private form so you can share them safely.
Where are you seeing slow performance? Front end? Back end? Both?
Can you please compare the performance of these two scenarios?
**IMPORTANT:** Please try this in a staging environment or at least with a backup of your site files and database before continuing.
1.
Disable all plugins except ACF, ACFML, WPML-related and temporarily change the theme to a default WordPress such as Twenty Twenty-five.
2.
Disable all plugins (including ACFML, WPML-related) except ACF, and temporarily change the theme to a default WordPress such as Twenty Twenty-five.
We tried your solutions and the site (and backend) was back to normal speed when ACFML and WPML plugins were deactivated. Woud you like access to the backend to investigate further?
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue.
It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.
The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I'll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site.
This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content.
Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.
**IMPORTANT**
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields.
Flywheel observed that on a period of 24h, 3600 ajax requests were made which corrolates with the translations made. Is it possible that WPML analyzes the flexible layouts fields everytime and cause this issue?
I still think that the server may be related to the issue you described in the video, because on my environment it worked pretty fast. Maybe we can test it in another server, as I suggested before.
Well, ok then. We can't try on another server because we are using Flywheel and it needs to stay there to deploy from staging to live easily. I will take a look at the solution you linked to.
Also, it's the second time this scenario happens to me when translating the site, when using the "Link" ACF Field, it adds like a ghost entry even though this field is not populated in the other langage. Do you know how to fix this? in my example it's a CTA button that is present when it shouldn't

Thanks

Sure, I understand.
I suggested migrating a copy of the site only to test it there, and confirm that it's related to the environment. I didn't mean that you should change hosts.
Let me know if the suggested workaround improves it, please.
