Hi!

When I go to edit a page I get a pop up that says -

Warning: You are trying to edit a translation using the standard WordPress editor but your site is configured to use the WPML Translation Editor.

I like to choose the "Edit Anyway" option as it is easier for me to translate my pages this way since I am using "Bold Builder" for my website.

However, if I accidentally choose "Open in Translation Editor" it completely resets all my translations (i.e. back to English) despite me having saved the page already.

How can I turn off this feature or change my settings so the standard WordPress editor is what I use for translations without reverting all my pages.

This situation reset a whole bunch of pages which I spent hours translating.

Hi there.

Yes, there's no way you can use multiple editors at the same time, if you use one, it will overwrite or unsync from what you did in the other one.

For your specific case, it is recommended that you are using the manual translation method:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

This way, you can edit the translation using the same Bolt builder that you were using before.

Hi Mihai,

Thank you for the quick reply. This information is helpful for new page translations but how about my current translated pages?

I keep seeing the "Update Translations" notification which means if I accidentially press "Edit with WPML" the pages will revert to English.

Is there any way to turn it off for existing pages?

Thank you!

Simon

Hi Simon.

No, you can't change this for pages that already have existing translation.

You would have to delete and remove the translation if you want to use manual translation from scratch.
