Hello. Please help me deactivate autoduplication of main language.
Things are as follow:
- I have set main language as english.
- I set WPML to not autotranslate nor autoduplicate anything.
- I create a new page called "test" in english.
- Then, i click duplicate page for all the other lanmguages.
- So i get my other languages containing the same information in my main language.
- If i modify any of the language page with elementor, everything is ok.
- However, if i modify english, all other languages content gets automated replaced with the content from english language, so i must translate everything again and again.
How can i edit my english page, without having it's content duplicated to oither languages?
I also need more information on your site by sharing the debug info. If you don’t know how to share the debug info, please follow this article https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

Hello. Thank you for the information.
It works for the pages, but for elementor elements i don't have this option.
i am attaching a screenshoot.
Isn't there a global setting that i can set? I don't want to automatically translate anything. i want to make my own translations for each element/page/product, to customize everything for each language.
So maybe in one language i want to ad some information, but for others, other information, and i don't want it overwrited when i edit the main language file.
According to your screenshot, English is not the original language of the header template. You can see the text "This is a translation of ..." which means it is a translation post.
However, I do not see the button "Translate independently" so I think it's not a duplication.
If you don't want to translate everything automatically, please go to WPML > Settings > Translation Mode > Switch to "Translate What You Choose". Then you can manually translate the header in Advanced Translation Editor.
If you want to have a different layout per language, you can use the WordPress editor to create/edit the translation.
Thank you very much for your response.
- Indeed, the button for "Translate independently" is not present in any elementor template, regardless the language or the main language.
- Yes for the header, english is not the main language, but that's why i gave you printscreen, to see that "Translate independently" is not there, as pages have.
- Also, i already set the "Translate What You Choose" and these problems still happens.
- Using "Translate independently" is working for pages, but elementor templates does not have this option.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
You can use this plugin to create the backup: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.
The original language of the header in your screenshot is Romanian. Then I make a small change to the title "Header." > Save the change and do not see the title synced to the translation header. Please check attached screenshots.
So basically, it's not automatically replaced with the content from the original language as the main issue of this ticket.
The button "Translate independently" is not available in the translation header because it's not a duplicate of the one in the original language, it's a translation.
Look forward to your reply.
Thanks
