This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was unable to translate elements of the homepage after moving the site to a new domain. Despite the frontend displaying translated text, backend translation functionalities were not working.
Solution:
1. We requested access to the client's site to investigate the issue further. For security, we advised the client to back up their site and provided a link to our privacy policy: https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/.
2. After gaining access, we utilized WPML's troubleshooting tools which resolved the issue, allowing the homepage to be opened and translated.
3. We identified potential issues with unusually long HTML strings related to Figma, which might have affected content processing. By duplicating and re-translating the page, the problem was resolved.
4. We suggested the client check with their hosting provider for any firewall or security rules that might be blocking requests, as this could explain the inconsistent behavior.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If problems persist, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

I'm having trouble translating the homepage. Yesterday I transferred the site from my domain (where it was under construction) to my client's final domain. 99% is working perfectly, however, it doesn't allow me to translate any element of the homepage.

Note: when selecting languages, all text appears translated on the frontend.

The problem is about the "Inicial" page. I've just canceled the tranlations processes in "Translation Jobs" page.

Is not about "homepage".

I'm sending a printscreen about the page that has the problem.
Please check it out.

Hello,

most likely it is an old translation job. I have made small change to title of page saved, reverted it back and saved. Now if you click it opens fine.

Please translate the page and let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Drazen

It keeps showing an error message. I was also able to access each of the translation pages once, but then the error reappeared.

I changed the page name from "Inicial" to "Inicio" to see if that would solve anything, but the problem persists.

The strange thing is that the changes are completed and appear correctly on the frontend...

Let me suggest something... try to duplicate the page "Inicio" to check if the translation is working normally and the error disappears on this new page.

Hello,

thank you for the details.

I checked this further and I’m not seeing anything wrong on the WPML side. While reviewing the page, I did notice some unusually long strings in the HTML that seem related to Figma (likely leftover embedded data), which could potentially affect how the content is processed.

I duplicated the page (“inicio copy”) and re-translated it, and everything worked correctly there.

Could you please check on your end as well?

Regards,
Dražen

The same error is occurring with the copy page. I'm going to ask you to keep this support ticket open until tomorrow, please, so that I can create a new page from scratch and re-insert all the elements there again.

PS: I didn't use the Figma in this project. :/

Hello,

thank you for the update.

Sure, no problem, I’ll keep the ticket open until tomorrow so you can recreate the page from scratch and test again.

Regarding the issue, it’s still a bit unclear. I noticed some very long and unusual strings in the content, which is why I mentioned Figma earlier, but if you didn’t use it, it could simply be some leftover or corrupted data.

What’s also strange is that it was working fine on my end earlier, I was able to translate and save without issues.

In the meantime, could you also please check with your hosting provider if there is any firewall or security rule that might be blocking requests (for example due to too many requests or specific URL patterns)? That could also explain inconsistent behavior.

Let me know how it goes after you recreate the page.

Regards,
Dražen

I created a new page from scratch, copied all the elements from Divi to that new page, and the error disappeared.
