When I click on automatic translation it literally removes my menu and uses the names of the pages, which are gibberish. I want to only translate the content of the page. Also whenever I click on update translation it enters a forever "please wait, applying translation" that will never load.
I bought the plugin, because I just needed a base translation of the contents inside the pages, but it screws up the menus and doesn't translate the things I want, and I cannot find where to edit the menu translation... I am so lost with this plugin. It doesn't translate the stuff I need it to and fucks the rest... I would love some help.
Could you please increase your WP Memory limit to 256M? 128M is the minimum required by WPML.
Your current values are:
PHP Memory Limit 256M
WP Memory Limit 40M
Add this code to your wp-config.php to increase WP memory:
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');
Paste it just before:

Now, verify the current settings at WPML > Support > WordPress. Then complete the translation again.
These settings can be limited directly by your hosting provider, so I recommend you contact and ask them to modify them directly.

Note: WPML needs a minimum WP Memory limit of 128M to work only under a minimal environment, which means, with a default theme and no other plugins installed.
For the menus:
If you use pages as menu items, it is expected that the page titles are used. If the titles are too long then you need to shorten them or use custom menu items. You can manually translate the menus at Appearance > Menus.
