Translate images using WMPL Media

WPML Media Translator shows me the original image instead of the translated image. I attached a screenshot showing a suspicious behavior on my networking the API returns success but without the images info. Background of the issue: 
I am trying to upload a different image from the original post on my site. I am following the documentation https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/.

Symptoms: 
When I save the image, the plugin says that all works, but when I go to the post, the image uploaded was not saved. WPML Media Translator shows me the original image instead of the translated image.
