This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client reported a bug where content was being randomly erased when translating from one language to another using Elementor. The issue persisted even after creating new blank homepages and manually recreating them. The client's hosting provider and Elementor support suggested the issue might be related to WPML.

Solution:
We recommended the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Keep the English page open after restoring it.
2. Edit the default language page using Elementor.
3. Change the image on the page.
4. Update the page.
5. Check if the English page remains unaffected.

Additionally, we advised the client to cancel any in-progress translation jobs in WPML-> Translation Management-> Jobs tab, as using multiple editors for translation is not recommended. We also provided a guide for manual translation with WPML and Elementor: Using different translation editors for different pages.

If the solution provided does not resolve the issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we encourage you to open a new support ticket. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hi,

1) I don't know what caused this issue, but the steps in my previous reply fixed it. Please change the image to any other image, update the default language home page, then select the problematic image, and update the page to replicate the issue.

If the issue didn't happen, then it's completely fixed.

2) In order to use only WordPress editor, please make sure that you always select it when translating your content. (Kdinly check this hidden link)

In order to check if you have any in-progress translation jobs, please go to WPML-> Translation Management-> Jobs tab. (Kdinly check this hidden link)

If you find any jobs, you should cancel them. Kindly check this guide about manual translation. (https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/)

Best regards,
Osama

Hi Osama,

I've proceed with step 1 and there was no issue anymore. Thank you very much.

As for step 2 I see all (except the Bulgarian homepage) as "completed - needs update", I assume this is no problem then can you confirm please?

And yes I was already always using "Wordpress Editor", maybe someone in my team changed it by mistake sometimes and that screwed it up.

Thank you once again for your support, that bug caused me so much stress!

Hi,

It's great to hear that the issue is fixed. If the translation status is "complete - needs update", that shouldn't cause any issues.

Please don't hesitate to open a new ticket if you encounter any other issues. We are always happy to help.

Have a great day! 🙂

Best regards,
Osama
