Hi,

As I mentioned, now there is a problem completing the translation of the homepage. Our second-tier supporter suggests duplicating the homepage and translating it when it is not the homepage. He explains that sometimes themes or other plugins can play tricks with the front static page. I can see you have the Duplicate Page installed on your site, so I can use it. Do you allow me to proceed with this?

Unfortunately, duplicating the homepage did not fix the problem. Even the duplicated page gets the same problem, and it is not possible to complete the translation. I'm further consulting our second-tier supporters about this.

We were unable to access your site with the FTP credentials you provided. We need to check for PHP errors when redelivering a translation from the Advanced Translation Editor to your site. For this, we need your permission to install a plugin like File Manager: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-file-manager/.

To further investigate this issue and avoid breaking your live site, our second-tier supporter requests a staging site. A staging site is a copy of your site on the same server. Is it possible for you to arrange that and give us access to this staging site? If you don't know how to do that, please consider asking the support team at your hosting service for help. I'm enabling a private message for the following reply.

If it is not an option for you, although it is a less good option, I'll take a copy of your site and send it to our second-tier supporters.

In our forum, we try to keep one issue per ticket. Therefore, I've split the other ticket and created a new ticket with this issue. Please see the new ticket here.

Hi,

Our second-tier supporter tested your site using the package I downloaded today and carefully repeated the same steps on our side. He re-sent the homepage for translation, completed it in the Advanced Translation Editor, and confirmed that it was delivered successfully. On our test copy, everything worked as expected.

This tells us that the translation process itself is working correctly.

On your live site, however, when trying to resend the homepage for translation, the process stops with a “500 server error.” Please see the attached screenshot. This type of message usually comes from the server and may relate to hosting settings, resources, or server configuration.

We also checked the available logs and did not find any critical WPML-related errors. Your current memory limit is set to 256MB, and in some cases, increasing this limit can help with similar issues.

At this stage, the behavior seems to be specific to your server environment. This is why we previously suggested using a staging site. With a staging copy, we could safely test directly in your setup and investigate this further without affecting your live site.

We understand that setting up a staging site is not always convenient, and we really appreciate your cooperation so far.

Looking ahead, the upcoming WPML 4.9 version will also include improved tools for diagnosing issues with the Advanced Translation Editor, which may make them easier to resolve.

To move forward, we would kindly suggest one of the following options:

1. If possible, provide access to a staging site so we can continue troubleshooting. For this, I'm enabling a private message for the following reply.

2. Try increasing the server memory limit. (Please let me know if you need instructions about this.)

3. Or wait for the upcoming WPML 4.9 update
