This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing issues where you are asked to translate from French to French instead of from English to French. Additionally, you notice duplicate translations of image text in the translation editor.
Solution:
1. If you are not using the Media Translation plugin, we recommend removing it from your plugins list. This action might require cleaning the media translations from the database.
2. Alternatively, disable the Media Text translation in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) and use Media Translation only for necessary cases.
3. To remove duplicate translations, follow these steps:
- Search for the English title of the image in the Media Library.
- Identify duplicates of the same image.
- Keep the Media Library tab open, and open the concerned page with Elementor to check the date and file name of the image currently in use.
- Return to the Media Library and delete all files that do not match the details on Elementor.
- Make a small edit to the page, save, and update the translation.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. By the way, the image texts are EXTREMELY important to me. Reason? The main reason for this new website in staging is to SEO it completely. And, that SEOing relies on keywords found in the image texts. So, if the translation is not 100%, the SEO will be screwed in French. Most of my clients speak French, not English. So, the translated site needs to be better than the original site.

Hope this is clearer...

Hello,

When you upload an image in French and then upload it in English, this will create 2 different files, hence why you have two copies under Media Translation, they are different files,

Media Translation is showing you all the media you have, regardless if it is used on the site or not.

The issue is simple, the text is getting translated twice, The first time from Media Translation and the second time on the translation editor.

I recommend to simply stop translating the image text from the translation editor and only use Media Translation to translate images and its text,

You can disable this option from WPML > Settings > media translation > Translate media library texts with posts: hidden link , and use Media Translation for Image texts.

I ONLY work in English. So, I upload only in English. Again, I do NOT translate twice, only from the WPML Advanced Translation Editor. Why would I ever want to use the Media Translation when I use the same images for both languages???

You seem to be looking for a scapegoat here. I am not lying about what I do.

It is possible that my issue with Yoast Related Keyphrases may have played a role in all this. I know another issue went away after the Yoast issue was fixed via an XML code workaround. See https://wpml.org/forums/topic/some-image-text-duplication-at-times/#post-16049707

Hello,

I see that there is a misunderstanding here, I had no intention to offend you nor saying that you are lying, here is a video to better explain all this to you :

I have just showed you on your site that the image text is showing double in the translation editor because the text is somehow being translated with Media Translation too, here is an example : hidden link

If you are not using Media translation whatsoever, then please delete it from your plugins list as a first step,

And regarding the XML code for SEO fields, it doesn't have a relation to this issue, the XML helps you translate these fields : hidden link

Here is the best way to explain this :

1- When you have the option "duplicate media" active on your posts, WPML create a copy on the database
2- That is why you are seeing copies under Media translation in French, which is totally normal
3- The text of some of your images got translated under Media Translation, which works differently from how ATE (Advanced Translation Editor) works. Hence, the creation of duplicates in different languages

Solution :
- Delete Media Translation if you are not using it (This might require cleaning the media translations from Database; I can assist you if deleting it wasn't enough)
- Or Disable the Media Text translation on ATE and use Media Translation.

Let me know if that answers your questions,

Best,

I am using WPML Media Translation for only one image on the site. And, that is the site Logo. I have two site logos, one in French and one in English.

So, how do I resolve the issue then? Keep in mind, that I want to use the ATE to translate any other images.

Here is a workaround for this : hidden link

The idea is to simply remove the translated text from Media Translation and then add a small edit to the original page so WPML can detect the new changes,

Hello,

Here is a video of the process to delete these duplicates :

hidden link

So we need to search for these files and delete the images that we're no longer using,

1- Search for the Title of the image in English Media Library
2- You will find multiple duplicates there of the same image
3- Keep that tab open and then Open the concerned page with Elementor and check what is the date and file name of the image that your page is currently using
4- Go back to the media library and delete all files that do not match what you have on Elementor
5- Add a small edit to the page > Save > update translation

We could've done this without having to delete any translation as suggested in my previous reply : https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translating-french-to-french-entries/page/2/#post-16071897
