I am setting the staging site for a full migration of my current content to a new setup outside the Avada template that has been having issues with WPML.
What is the link to your site?
One of the test articles has been uploaded to the staging server: hidden link
It includes 3 related posts blocks (top-middle and bottom) made with the PostX plugin that lets me automatically display posts that are related to the one published, showing them either by most popular (top), category (middle) and random (bottom block).
When I translate the post, the developer has asked me to duplicate the article in Spanish and then replace texts by copy/pasting in the new Spanish post. This process I like because I can paste in large blocks of text instead of the phrase by phrase system WPML offers. The downside is that the related post blocks in the Spanish duplicate are in English and I'll need to go into each one by one to reconfigure each into Spanish.
Because we are migrating some few thousand posts, this extra step will make things tedious and more expensive. Does WPML offer an automated way to solve this?
(I hope I have been clear, if not, please tell me.)
Welcome to WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this.
When I translated the post, the developer asked me to duplicate the article in Spanish and then replace text by copying/pasting it in the new Spanish post.
Developer of your site? or the developers of the PostX plugins?
What happens when you translate the pages with WPML translation editors?
Further, We've recently rolled out a new version of WPML plugins. Could you please update your plugins to the latest version and inform me if it resolves the issue?
Our WPML updates are distributed gradually. If your websites haven't received this update yet, please be patient, and you should see it within a few days.
It was the developer of the site, sorry if I was not clear.
I went ahead and created a test post

and translated it:

The process was better using a direct translation through WPML and not duplicating the article in Spanish.
There are a few issues, the image did not carry along the configuration of the English image. The Table Of Contents did not translate
The related posts do not work
The bottom menu wasn't translated, but I think I just need to translate the bottom menu. The prior issues I am not sure how to fully resolve them, any guidance? Thanks a lot!
For media issues,
- Go to WPML->Settings->Media Translation
- Check the following options
-- Translate existing media in all languages
-- Duplicate existing media for translated content
-- Duplicate the featured images for translated content
- Click on the start button and wait for it to finish.
Further, To debug this issue further, I would need to check your site settings once, for this I would need temporary access (wp-admin and ftp) to your site.
So could you please provide me with those details, you will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. hidden link
Most media that's relevant is translated, so I think we're fine with that. I've sent you the access data you asked for. I have the site hoted on Cloudways so they keep an ongoing backup of the site.
For blocks that generate content automatically, achieving compatibility might require some effort. I recommend reaching out to postX plugin support for assistance. Additionally, you can suggest that they consider joining the https://wpml.org/documentation/support/go-global-program/ for better integration.
Thank you for that, I am contacting the PostX team now. Regarding the table of contents I can also see it's a PostX block. What about the photo at the top? I think that one is a different format. Am I right?
That too is due to the image block, it has some custom CSS settings and it's not being copied.
You can also try to use a manual editor since a lot of blocks are having issues here, but this way you will need to add the translations and settings manually in the secondary languages.
