This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing issues where translations on your pages revert back to original each time you make changes to the original page, requiring retranslation.
Solution:
We recommend using WPML's Advanced Translation Editor for translating your pages. This tool includes features like translation memory, which automatically saves your translations each time you use it. After translating a page, your French translations will be stored in the translation memory, preventing them from reverting when the original language content is updated.

Background of the issue:
I translate all my pages myself from Dutch to French on my site hidden link.

Symptoms:
On some pages, translations are reverted back to Dutch each time I change something on the Dutch page, requiring me to translate the whole page again.

Questions:
How can I program WPML so that it never changes anything on my translations?

I am not sure, but it seems that I have solved the problem by switching to advanced transation editor. can it be that this was the cause of the issue?

WPML’s Advanced Translation Editor is the best choice for translating your pages, as it offers various features, including translation memory. Therefore, it could be a great solution to the issue you encountered.

WPML automatically saves translations to the translation memory every time you use the Advanced Translation Editor. For instance, after translating the page, WPML will store your French translations in the translation memory.
