Background of the issue:
I am using WPML with the Advanced Translation Editor on the site hidden link. When translating sentences, the input field autosaves every +/- 5 seconds.
Symptoms:
The cursor jumps to the beginning of the sentence after autosaving, which is inconvenient for translators who look up translations elsewhere and then return to the translation editor.
Questions:
Is there an option to turn off the autosave?
Is there a way to keep the cursor in its position after autosaving?
I understand the issue you're experiencing. Currently, there is no way to disable the cursor relocation after autosave. However, I have escalated this issue to our Translation Editor team for further investigation, and I hope they will find a solution to fix this problem.
As soon as I have any update from the team, I will surely inform you.
If there is anything else you'd like to share, feel free to let me know. I'll be happy to help.
I'd also like to have the option to turn off the auto-saving feature of segments in the Advanced Translation Editor.
I often have segments with formatting, and when I start to translate such a segment, and I start applying the formats, the auto-saving often saves right when I apply the first formatting, and this formatting is lost and the cursor focus/selection is lost.
What I now have resorted to do is that when a segment has formatting, I wait for the auto-saving to have done it's work before applying the formatting. But having to wait each time before the auto-saving kicks in and this for many segments slows down my work quite a bit.
So having the option to turn off auto-saving would save me time and I save each segment after editing with Ctrl-Enter anyway, so the auto-saving doesn't make much sense for my use case anyway (and I guess most people).
