I am trying to: open the editor for a page

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:

I expected to see: the translation editor

Instead, I got: WPML tried to translate this page three times and failed. To get it fixed, contact WPML support

From the wpm-tm-ate log it seems i got unauthenticated errors, see attached image

What I have tried as well is the last suggestion from this thread, but it did not help, same Unauthorized error message from ATE:

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue. Sorry for the late response because of the weekend.

Please try the following steps and check is there any difference in the result.

1) Visit WPML>>Translation Management Dashboard
2) Choose the Posts/Pages you want to translate or update the existing translations
3) Send it to Translation Basket
4) Visit WPML>>Translation Management>>Translation Basket
5) Send it for translation, by choosing yourself as a translator
6) Visit WPML>>Translations queue and translate the page by clicking the *Translate* button

This is the correct workflow for translation. Refer to this article for more details https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/

Thanks, but that is really inconvenient. What about translation feature from the pages/posts/custom posts admin pages? (I'm talking about the translation with the pencil icon) It used to work for at least a year and stopped only this weekend. It also works on all of my other websites with WPML.

I tried also changing the original, English content. It seems (for pages) now I can access ATE, both via the pencil icon from pages and from the translation queue as well, however a lot of strings that were already translated are missing...

Ok, it seems now I have 3 types of content:
1. untranslatable: I got either "WPML didn't manage to translate this page." or "WPML tried to translate this page three times and failed. To get it fixed, contact WPML support"
2. all translations are lost
3. only a part of translations are lost, but it is absolutely random (like Title is empty, but the first Heading has the translation). All translations are marked as yellow (like if translation Complete button were never pressed)

Any advice? We don't want to copy all texts back sentence-by-sentence from the public pages for around 300 pages or posts...

Thank you for the details. This requires further checking. Please share the following information for tracking the issue.

1) Have you migrated the site or changed the site URL recently?

2) Please share the URL of the posts/pages you are facing the translation loss & WPML tried to translate this page three times and failed. To get it fixed, contact WPML support.

3) Please fill the private details fields after a full site backup{mandatory}. I would like to access the admin area of your site for further checking. Refer to the following links for more details about our private information sharing policies.

More information: I've added two more screencasts about Translation Basket/Translation Queue. It helps a bit, as now I from "Pages" menu in WP admin, when I click the pencil, I don't get error message for those pages I added to the basket. So those pages that were un-editable, are now opening ATE (bit with still missing translations)

I kept one page untouched, so you can reproduce the WPML error message:
"Hungary’s Universities" ( hidden link )
Or feel free to translate most of the Courses or Universities, for those the error message still appears

However, the serious problem is, the most of the translations are still missing

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for the updates. I can access the videos now and had a quick check on the site. We can sort out the issues, one by one. It will help us to avoid discussing multiple issues in a single ticket or thread.

Now Pages like About Us, Admission, etc..... show the translation status as In Progress(gear icon). So just to make sure, have you resend it for translation? Refer to the attached image for more details.

Please create a test page with the same content as the Homepage(hidden link) and try to translate it into Turkish language, then check whether the ATE is showing the translations automatically or not. It will help us to make sure the ATE Translation Memory is working or not.

What I have done with About Us, Admission is that I sent them to Translation Queue while I was creating the screencasts. It fixed them, I mean now there is no error message, however translations are still missing.

I have added a test page (!test page), translated and that seems working.

Thank you for the updates. Please allow me to make a duplicator copy of your site using the Duplicator plugin(https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/) to debug the issue on my local server. So we can troubleshoot the bug without affecting your live site.

Feel free, we are looking for the fastest solution as this is the most active period for students looking for university courses and Turkish is the main target audience. We may even talk or I can provide any debug information, coding, dumps, etc...

Thank you for the updates and permission. We will do our best to resolve the issue as early as possible. One more request, please upgrade to the latest version of Elementor and its add-ons after a full site backup. We would like to make sure the bug exists with the latest version or not(especially the translation loss).
