This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client's website went down after updating WPML, and they encountered an error list from the debug.

Solution:
1) We suggested that the issue might be due to an incorrect update process, resulting in missing files. We recommended manually downloading and installing the necessary files from the provided links:

2) We also advised trying a workaround from an errata page that seemed related to the client's issue:
Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function

Additionally, we recommended creating a full website backup before proceeding with any changes to ensure there is a recovery option available.

The client later confirmed that updating the translation and multilingual components resolved the issue, and they disabled auto-updates to prevent similar problems in the future.

Please note that the solution provided might be outdated or not applicable to your case. If the issue persists, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support. While you are waiting for one of my colleagues to take this ticket and work on it, let me provide you with the first debugging steps and try to help with the issue quickly.

1) It could be that the update went wrong and some files are missing, please download files from the download links and install them manually from Plugins > Add new or via FTP.

- https://wpml.org/download/wpml-string-translation/?section=changelog

2) Please try also a workaround from the next errata as it looks similar:

Drazen

Hi,
If I update this part of the plugin I'll overwrite some already existed file or the website will be anyway fine?

Thanks

Hi there.

First of all, I would recommend a full website backup first.

Then, you have a backup option in case something goes wrong but no, following the steps that my colleague shared above shouldn't do any harm.

Please let me know how things go.

Hey!

The update on the translation and multilingual worked!
I've also had to deactivate the auto update so won't have this issue again.

Thanks for that!
