This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The client is experiencing an issue where a red WPML error appears stating 'max_questions resource exceeded' when trying to save CSS customizations in the Total theme's 'Custom CSS' panel. This error includes a stack trace indicating issues with database queries related to language settings.

Solution:

If you're encountering this issue, we recommend following these steps:

1) Ensure you have a full site backup before proceeding.
2) Upgrade your WordPress to the latest version, currently 6.8.1.
3) Update WPML to the latest version, which is 4.7.6. You might need to check for updates manually in the Plugins>>Add New>>Commercial tab.
4) Increase the 'MaxInputVars' setting in your PHP configuration to '10000'. For guidance on how to do this, please refer to this article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue or if the solution seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, please check related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. We highly recommend opening a new support ticket for further assistance at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to save a CSS customization using the 'Custom CSS' panel in the Total theme (WPEX panel). The change is saved, but a red WPML error appears regarding max_questions resource being exceeded. The issue can be seen at: hidden link

Symptoms:
A red error box from WPML stating: User 'dqggyate_wp67664' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource (current value: 1). This includes a stack trace about [language] => en, [name] => order-pay, and translation context. The site still works, but this message appears every time I save.

Questions:
How can I resolve the 'max_questions' resource exceeded error?
Why does the WPML error appear when saving CSS changes?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you resolve the issue.

This issue appears to be similar to the one discussed in the following ticket:

https://wpml.org/forums/topic/issues-with-some-tables-im-the-database/

So, please try the following steps after taking a full site backup (mandatory) and check whether the bug still exists.

1) Upgrade to the latest version of WordPress (6.8.1)

2) Upgrade to the latest version of WPML (4.7.6). You may have to visit Plugins>>Add New>>Commercial tab and click on the *Check for updates* button to get the WPML automatic upgrade links of the latest version. This step will help us refresh the installer caches.

3) Increase the *MaxInputVars* of PHP settings to *10000*. Please check the following article for more details, or contact your system admin/hosting provider for this purpose.
