For a while now we have been using the legacy widget for WordPress Popular Posts, the title of which was successfully translated. Recently the plugin author said he was discontinuing the legacy widget and we needed to switch to the new block based widget. So we did. Problem is we can't seem to find where to translate the title, which should read 'Popular Recipes' in English, then 'Populaire Recepten' in Dutch.
This widget appears in 4 places; the posts/recipes side bar, every category page, the homepage and the search results page.
We have looked in string translations, but what I think we see there is the strings of the old legacy Popular Posts widget. No matter what we do, we can't seem to translate the new block widget title.

We've tried everything, but we just can't seem to find the string. At least we've been running this translated site for over 3 years now, so you think we'd know what we're doing. It's probably something small.
Although one theory I have is that we are maybe seeing old strings from other widgets or something. We have tried refreshing/updating strings that still need translating, but to no avail.
At the end of the day, it is just one small heading that I'm fairly sure no one really pays attention to anyway because the respective words in Dutch and English are very similar. I'm also pretty sure it won't hurt our rankings either and people will still share the recipes.
I guess I'm just a stickler for these kinds of details.
Ok, I might just mark this ticket 'resolved' and we can get on with other things in the meantime. I might come back to this later.

I see you use Sitegorund Optimizer plugin, can you please clear all caches on the site then update the widget with a small change in the widget text then see if you can find the title for translation?

Yes, I have flushed all caches, both browser and server as well as bypassed the SiteGround CDN, doesn't help.
I can give you access, but it would have to be to an existing separate staging version of the site as we are actively working on the main site and are not too keen to have someone else in there, at this time. The site is also currently very busy and we don't want to take unnecessary risks, as already mentioned, this is not a big issue at all, so I had almost forgotten about it.
Just let me know if you would like access to a staging copy. I would however need to set up an ftp account as I don't normally use such. Let me know if you would need that too.
Sure, can you please setup a staging site with the same issue replicated then share the site access credentials ( wp-admin ) through the private reply that I have enabled for you?

It is working fine and these are steps that I have done:
- Changed widget title to Popular Recipes EN, so I know which one is related
- Went to WPML String translation, select and deleted the one that seems related
- Go to "Translate texts in admin screens »" and added a string for translation
- Copied complete code from the widget, and just renamed the title part, keeping the structure the same
- It works just fine on front end.
We tried, and found one of the 3, but it is still very complicated to translate what should be something very simple, a widget title. So, we have instead cheated and just used a word that is the same in both languages, 'Trending'.
