I have a custom post type called Countries which I am translating using WPML

Now I have another post type called News which also I translate using WPML

The NEWS post type has the advance custom field called 'country' which is post object field and multi select and points to the Countries custom post type.

Now when I translate News item from English to French and for that I have selected the Country as India I want the French version to have the French country post in the fields as Inde

Let me know if this is not clear.

I've tested this case on my local site (post and page) and see it works as your expectation, here is the screenshot hidden link
The field group mode is "Same fields across languages".

If it does not work on your site, can you please help me replicate the issue on a clean installation of WordPress? With the link below, you can login directly to the admin area

Can you please add ACFML in this installation so I can replicate all the configuration? Currently I don't see the option of Translations with ACF

Hi Long,

Seems working in the sandbox site and I got the issue also at my end.

I had set the Expert Mode and Set to Translate the field. Now I have 60K items which are already translated so how should I fix this?

Another issue is some of my content is created in second language and later on we translate them to English so will it work? if not we can not use "Same fields across languages"

Hi,

If you use the field group mode Expert, please set the post field preference to "Copy" > Save changes. Then edit the News post > Make a small change to the post title > Save > Update translation and see if it helps.

Also, please update WPML and ACF plugins on your site to the new version. Refer documentation https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#checking-for-updates

Copy is not working for me so I need to change to "Same fields across languages" But I am worried about the current content.

Hi,

The field preference "Copy" in the Expert mode works on my demo site. You can also test on the sandbox site above.
Regarding the post content, changing the field group mode doesn't affect the post content. I also rechecked this on my demo site.

If you are worried something goes wrong, please make a full backup of your site and database before proceeding.

hi

There is cache here. If there are two Field Group, and one is set to Expert and other is set to "Same fields across languages" It will break. This is BUG from your end. Please resolve this next time.

I tried to replicate the issue on the sandbox site but did not see that. I created another field group with the mode Expert and added the Post object field. Then the selected post displays the translation in the second language as well. Here are some screenshots hidden link

Can you please help me to replicate the issue on the sandbox site? If it is a specific issue on your site, you can enable a minimal environment as below and see if it helps:
- Deactivate all plugins except WPML plugins and ACF.
- Switch to a standard theme of WordPress.
