Background of the issue:
I am trying to keep the paragraphs when translating a wysiwyg ACF field.

Symptoms:
I can translate wysiwyg fields and see the individual sentences in the new WPML translation editor. However, in the translation, the paragraphs are gone. I have to translate in the old editor and add the paragraphs there to see them again.

Questions:
Why are the paragraphs missing in the new WPML translation editor?
How can I ensure paragraphs are retained when translating wysiwyg ACF fields?

I saw the workaround "disable 'i prefere bigger segments'" but it didn't work. This is again an issue where I would have to append random text in the original translation, save it, remove it again, save it again, and then translate it again to work properly. Why is the core functionality of wpml so complicated and sometimes not functional?

Hello,

If you disable 'i prefere bigger segments' then this will not take affect for the current job, but for any next job.

This is why you need to edit the original content, save it again and then open the WPML Translation Editor, as this will then create a new job ID.

Does this solve the issue?

Best regards
Andreas

It is solved as soon as it works without a hack.

Indeed, I just first wanted to get an idea about what might be causing the issue.

Did the workaround solve the issue temporarily for your site?

I will be trying to recreate this issue now on a new test site and then get back to you.

Like I said in my first reply on 16.08, yes, it does work with the workaround.

I just wanted to translate some acf fields and encountered 3 different issues. This cannot be normal.

I can not yet confirm such issue on the following test site:

Could you please try to recreate the issue on this test site and then get back to you.

Make sure to use a similar setup and content when testing.

Sry, but I currently don't have time for this. This was the setup on our production site:

- Custom post types (created with acf) and custom attributes
- Created a translation with the new editor
- The new editor for some reason separated the content into too many fields, e.g. a simple headline with 3 words into two sections
- Some sections were not saved
- Disabled the smaller section feature (or enabled the bigger section feature)
- Had to create a new translation job (how should I know this as a normal user?)

But you can take one if the many other examples of people who had the same problem. Maybe one of them has a working (or rather not working) example.

I am sorry to hear that the new version of the editor was giving you a hard time.

I ran some tests and it seems to me that this is the issue that you are experiencing:
https://wpml.org/errata/line-breaks-are-ignored-when-using-the-advanced-translation-edior/

Our developers are already aware of those problems and are working on a solution.

For now, we can only suggest to disable “I prefer bigger segments” and create a new job.
