[Resolved] WPML detected a new address for this site: has TWO Addresses
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was trying to add a translation manager in a WordPress multisite environment but encountered issues with site recognition and credit allocation for automatic translations. Specifically, the client faced a loop where the system repeatedly asked if the site was a copy or if the address had changed, and also showed no credits available for translations. Solution: We advised the client that only the main site URL of the network needs to be registered on WPML.org. We recommended removing the secondary domain from the WPML account to avoid conflicts. After adjustments in our system, we asked the client to try using credits again to see if the issue was resolved.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If problems persist, please open a new support ticket.

I expected to see: the menu to add a translation manager
Instead, I got: to decide, whether die site is a copy (no, it is not) or the address changed (no, it is still fb06.un-mainz.de) In a multisite environment there are TWO addresses. In this case hidden link AND hidden link . The above error occurrs in this one site only. The other sites are until now not affected. I updated wpml to the current version yesterday...
I attached the banner, the registered sites and the credits assigned-page
I got an error message every time I hat to switch from cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/subsite as a primary domain name to subsite.uni-mainz.de. The message did not make sense to me but to be able to translate on I had to "lie" and say, yes, the site moved to the new address.

The banner appears as it seems that our system recognized that the main site URL was changed from cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/ to fb06.uni-mainz.de.
According to our system, it is yet hidden link that is registered on your wpml.org account for this Multisite.
Now, if the primary domain of your site was changed to fb06.uni-mainz.de then the banner would be expected and this site URL should be the one that you use to register your Multisite on wpml.org.
At the moment I can not confirm that fb06.uni-mainz.de is registered on your wpml.org account.
Now, if in doubt, the best option to pick on the migration banner would always be "Copy" as like this you will make sure, that no matter where the site was migrated from, the origin and the new site will remain functioning and you will be able to share their translation memory and glossary.
If you run into any issues regarding credits, please let me know so that I can make manual adjustments.
The Address of the multisite has not changed.
Only the primary address of the subsite changed.
I cannot register fb06 because I do not get to a code:
Unfortunately there is an endless loop:
1. on the banner I choose "Copy" as you advised
2. I choose this link hidden link
on the next page:
Verbinden Sie die Credits für automatische Übersetzungen zwischen den beiden Kopien dieser Website.
Damit die Websites, die auf hidden link und hidden link laufen, dieselben Credits für automatische Übersetzungen verwenden, müssen Sie Folgendes tun:
3. I am on the banner page, again and have to choose between copy and new address

Hello,
I am sorry but we do not have ftp access. I can offer you to do a live session together via our Videosystem and Screensharing. Updates are done via git/ssh.
May I check something for you?

My apologies, but we can not offer other channels than forum or chat.
FTP access is not mandatory. Access to WordPress as admin would be sufficient and I could install a File Manager plugin in case I would need to review something.
Could you please verify if there are any entries inside the wp-config.php file that are maybe calling the site URL dynamically? This could be a reason why wpml.org is confusing the address.
I took desperate measures und got out of the loop via unsetting and setting the credits new. Now the subsite cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/fb06 with the primary domain name fb06.uni-mainz.de stars twice in the list in the main sites wpml. (See attached image)
How do I remove the double entry? How do I identify the old one?
On May 23 You mentioned: "When using a Multisite only the main site URL of your Network needs to be registered on wpml.org."
Does this hold true with deepl credits and separate primary domains for every subsite?
very good. I removed fb06.uni-mainz.de.
After this, in fb06.uni-mainz.de/wp-admin I get "WPML hat eine neue Adresse für diese Website erkannt".
If i do answer yes, it is a copy then I am in the Loop mentioned again, instead of the key after the next screen I get the start screen again. (first and second screenshot)
If I do answer no it seems that I have no credits (third and last screenshot)
In the main sites wpml: hidden link
there are still two lines for fb06.uni-mainz.de
How do I get rid of these?
To enable automatic translation again, what can I do?
