This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are using the WPML Translation Editor but need to paste officially translated documents verbatim, and find the process cumbersome.
Solution:
1. To paste the translations directly, first deactivate the WPML Translation Editor. You can learn how to switch between different translation editors here: Using Different Translation Editors for Different Pages.
2. Ensure that the page status is set to 'Published'. If the page is in 'DRAFT' mode, the toolbar necessary for pasting will not be visible. Once published, the toolbar will appear, allowing you to proceed.

If this solution does not apply to your situation, or if it seems outdated, we recommend opening a new support ticket. Additionally, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I usually use the WPML Translation editor but there are times when I receive officially translated versions of a doc (say a press release) and I need to paste it in verbatim.

Symptoms:
Using the WPML editor is ponderous as layout and or WPML "layout" tags (line break, bold, etc.) seem to be an issue preventing me from saving the translation.

Questions:
Can I use the WordPress Editor when I have officially translated documents to paste verbatim?
Why do I find the options to use WPML Translation Editor or WordPress Editor confusing?

Hi,

you can paste the changes directly inside the WP editor, but you need to deactivate the WPML editor before: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

Best Regards,
Marcel

1. How do I start deactivating the WP editor?
2. What role is required to deactivate the editor? Can an "Editor" role do this (and not just an Admin role)?

I want to hand off posting of content to a collaborator but don't want to give them Admin access.

Hi,

1) The deactivation can be performed as shown in the documentation on the right sidebar (see attached screenshot).

2) It’s possible to deactivate using either the Editor or Admin roles.

Best regards,
Marcel

HI,

I have a problem. In old posts, I do see the WPML or WordPress editor buttons (see image).

When trying to add a new post, I get an error:

Warning: You are trying to add a translation using the standard WordPress editor but your site is configured to use the WPML Translation Editor.

You should use Translation management dashboard to send the original document to translation.

And do not see those boxes (see second image).

How can I fix this?

Hi,

The page is currently in DRAFT mode, which is why the toolbar isn't visible. Once you change the page state to published, the toolbar will appear, and this message will no longer be displayed.

Best regards,
Marcel
