This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
If you're experiencing a White Screen of Death (WSOD) and suspect it might be due to a conflict with the WPML plugin, there are steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Solution:
First, try to isolate the problem by deactivating all other plugins except for WPML and its related plugins, and switch to a default theme. This can help determine if there is a conflict causing the WSOD.
Second, as a temporary measure, increase your
WP_MEMORY_LIMIT
to 1024M. This increase in memory limit might resolve the WSOD temporarily while a permanent solution is being sought.
If these steps do not resolve your issue, or if they are not applicable to your situation, we recommend checking the related known issues and ensuring that you have the latest versions of themes and plugins installed. If the problem persists, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket with us.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
We've been dealing with a WSOD (White Screen of Death) issue for 4 months now.We reached out to the WordPress support team as well about the issue, and they said the issue could be because of the conflict between plugins.
We want to keep the translations going, and we don't want to disable the WPML plugin.
Can you assist us with finding the possible fix?
Also, attaching the screenshot of the error we get.
Thank you for sharing the information. To see if the problem is with WPML, we would have to disable it, to see if the issue persists. A safe way to do it, would be the following:
1. Make a full backup of your website;
2. Deactivate WPML and related plugins;
3. Check for the error again;
By doing that, you can simply reactivate WPML and your translations will still be there. Please let me know if the issue persists when WPML is activated.
So, we disabled the WPML plugin, and our website was back, but the moment we enabled the plugin again, it was gone. I am attaching a screenshot for your reference.
Please let us know what our next steps should be.
Can you please reach out to your hosting provider? Please show the error message to them and ask them to increase the memory limit as much as they can for your plan.
Please check more information about this error: hidden link
Also, have you tried to increase your WP memory limit? In the URL below, we have suggested the value '256M', but please test it with '1024M', too.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.
You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.
IMPORTANT
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:
Unfortunately, we'll not be able to share the temporary access with you due to security reasons. Though we are open to getting on a live call with you to guide us. We can share our screen, and you can guide us through the steps we need to take.
That is the only possible way for us at the moment.
At WPML, we only offer support via Forum or via chat, unfortunately we don't offer live chat or calls. But we'll get to a solution here 🙂
I need at least a copy of your website, so I can find what's causing the issue. That involves checking for plugins or theme conflicts, analyzing code. All of this could compromise the functioning of your live website, that's why we need the copy.
Can you provide us with at least a Duplicator package of your website? You can delete any sensitive data you have. Here's our guide on how to do that: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-supporters-copy-site/
I've enabled the field for you to share the package privately, so only me and you will have access to it.
That won't be a problem, at first. I won't need the licenses, I just need to check for conflicts. I've enabled the private message, so you can share it in safety 🙂
We are working on it Lucas, can you enabled the security thread for me to share the files with you, please?
